- Marion H20 contributionsThis was a very good lace to visit. 1st time to Singapore. I told Rosie what I wanted and needed and she helped me with everything, including getting walking shoes, lunch, buses ad attractions with timetables. We'll worth the visitWritten 10 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Daniel AdhinugrahaJakarta, Indonesia185 contributionsI visited this place just out of curiosity, and spend no more than 5 minutes inside. They do have some brochures & flyers introducing the area, if you like to have some printed map & brochure handy, but nothing special. The merchandise on display is also not special. I didn't get to speak to the staff, just take some brochure and leave, since I didn't intended to purchase any tour there. The best part maybe the $1 ice potong sold in front of the center.Written 6 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VenkateshBangalore, India8 contributionsA lovely clean city, Singapore! The immigration at the airport was so easy and hassle-free. The country is very expensive and it is better to use the MRT (rail) maps rather than take cabs for your city rides as cabs are super expensive. Singapore is technology-driven. Everything is very systematic and strict rules are followed. It is very clean. Even public toilets in most of the malls, restaurants and so on were very clean... till I visited Little India.
It must be called Little Tamil Nadu (not even Little South India) because Little India in Singapore is full of Tamilians and that cannot represent India as a whole. There are a variety of Indian restaurants and cuisines available. However, in Little India, I witnessed the mess that we see in India (except street dogs and cows, there was everything else). The toilet at Central Mall in Little India was filthy to the core, stinking and rubbish. Worst than Indian toilets in bus stands. People (read as Indians) were crossing the road wherever they feel like (unlike other places in Singapore), they were littering and throwing garbage, plastic and other waste materials in public places and playing loud tamil songs in restaurants. I regretted coming to Little India and was very disappointed to see India being represented like this in Singapore.
The natives are not very helpful. Natives in Singapore won't give some space in their seats in the MRT for a child to sit. There is no adjustment. Almost all of them are glued to their smartphones. If you ask them for directions or some guidance, they just say they don't know. Not very friendly people.
The place is thriving only due to the attractions amongst which only the Universal Studios, sea aquarium and the river cruise were worth it. Gardens by the Bay was good. Sentosa Island (apart from Universal Studios) is just an average place and the beaches don't have waves! It is more like a pond. The zoo (during the day) was also nothing great. I felt Mysore Zoo in Karnataka, India was better! Bird Paradise was partially closed due to renovation when we went. So, most of the places are just hyped up.
Beware of the cab drivers (from Grab app). They are not honest. We lost our wallet in the car and the driver claimed there was nothing and the local police was not of much help.
Chengi Airport is huge. The artificial waterfall that you see in most of the pictures is wonderful and the main attraction at Jewels mall in Chengi Airport.Written 4 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
