Very picturesque and colourful. WOW, colourtful as kids' toys. Was the building this colourful when it was a police station? It's best seen at night when lit up with dazzling lights.

Beautifull building and the oldest existing fire station in Singapore and also houses the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery. The Gallery is open for public tours each Saturday, 9.00am & 10.00am, unfortunately we arrived too late to participate and had to be satisfied with external views with other tourists. The building has been constructed in Edwardian style architecture with red and white stripe features; these are reminiscent of Moorish architecture that we sighted in southern Spain. The building dates to 1918 and has been recognised as a National Monument since 1998.

Came here to perform First aider duty on the Istana Open House on 28 July 2024. This is the first time being deployed for Istana duty. We are part of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) under the umbrella of People's Association.

We work in collaboration with the Red Cross, the Scouts, the Police and many other agencies to respond to first aid emergencies that could happen at the site. This is my first time coming to the Istana on her Open House.

Admission to the Istana is free on such Open House Day. There are guided tours to the main building and also guided nature tour. But they are charged. At certain hours, books on the Birds in the Istana and Gardens in Istana are given free to visitors. Although the weather is scorching hot, the queue at the main building was quite long.

There are makeshift stalls selling food after the long driveway from the main entrance. There is also the main tentage whereby performances are held. Many visitors came here with their young children to enjoy the band music, dances, songs and martial arts performances from the schools and art groups. Games stalls were also set up to attract the young children. There were two mini table tennis tables at the lawn area for interested visitors to play. The serenity of the Japanese gardens with the zen theme appear incompatible on this crowded day.

As I strolled around the Istana compound, I realized there are many hidden gems of nature, trees and plants waiting to be discovered. We came across aged elderly who could not withstand the long walk and hope we could bring them the wheelchair to ferry them to the destination. At times, we get the buggy to assist them when the wheelchair ran out. Many approached us to take photos for them. Two or three dancers sustained slight injuries in their feet and we helped to apply saline to clean their wound and apply bandage on the affected feet.

A great day `patrolling' around the compound with our first aid kits. It was a heartening tour meeting different peoples but I was physically exhausted when the event stood down at 6pm.

This is a very cool old building. It looks very british to me. It's very cool that it is located in a far east locale. Very nice.

Could only view it from the outside but the easy access / visibility is a world apart from the layers of security which surround Parliament House in India!

A place that our national housing and development shares the history of public housing in singapore. From the exhibits, I can see that we have come a long way. Informative!

This exhibit is a great place to get a view of the past and future development of Singapore. We went with a guide and this was a great first stop to get an overview of the city and the politics that required its development.
