As many people describe Batur in Agung's reviews.

Mount Batur reaches 1700m, it overlooks Batur Lake (1400m). The climb is an easy morning walk, only 300 elevation difference. A good way to start the day, walking with pets and children. Very crowded for sunrise.

Mount Agung is the highest peak of Bali, 3031m. It is officially closed but you can easily climb it, by yourself or hiring a guide (which I recommend). There are 2 ways:
-the "short way" from Pura Pasa agung, you start at 1700m and go to the top crater.
-the "longer" way, from Besakhi at 1000m up to the summit (see pictures I took this morning, January 2020).

This 2nd option is short (8 km) but steep (over 2000m elevation). Basically you start at midnight to arrive before 6 am, for sunrise. You need an average fitness. It requires carefulness, and some equipments: front lights, good shoes and a jacket.
Be aware that descending the higher, rocky part is the most difficult. It's slippery and some stones may fall: remain
    concentrated.
Overall it's a great experience. The sunrise colors and the view is the best reward.

It‘s another vacation experience compared with other sights in Bali. A worthy place to visit for those who have not been to volcanoes.

The lake is crescent shaped and located in the secondary caldera at the base of Mount Batur. Our driver told us that the lake is held sacred by all Balinese. We were happy with the wonderful views from the lookout and the Lakeview restaurant.. So different to 1989 when a beamo driver took us along some barely discernable track to some hot springs. Over commercialized nowadays.

come here solo hiking when rainy season. Amazing place, quiet, and gorgeous. From park area to Post 1 is easier, but from post 1 to peak bit challenging especially during rainy season. If you a beginner this mountain is recommended but please climb on Summer season

Trekked up here late morning as had clouded over everyday we've been here from 3pm onwards.
Whilst very hot well worth it as the views were fantastic.
Mainly steps to get to the temple so not for the faint hearted!
Wear sensible shoes and take a bottle of water( shop at bottom selling refreshments)

My Balinese friends of 20 years took me to Batukau Mountain Temple for a very special & emotional Blessing for my Mum who just died a month ago. I asked my friends if they could do this to ensure my Mum was completely at peace in her next life. They said it would be our honorable to do this for your Mum as you are part of our family. I had to wear traditional Balinese clothing & it we as an incredibly special Ceremony. My Mum was created in Australia so this was also very special to me as there was no Funeral. The place is unlike any other Temple I have visited, very peaceful & serene & was the perfect location for this Ceremony.

It was quite far, the road to get there wasnt bad.
How to enter was u gotta get this big white gate, the parking lot is on your right. (Rp.5000 each motor bike)
I recommended this place to young people. Because the steps to get to the hill is quite dangerous. There was only two of us as a tourist and some locals. The security overthere said that the place is quite crowded on sunday.
Best view, and we r lovin it.

    Serious safety incident
This is to advise that a man lives by himself on top of Mount Tapak, Harmen. I trekked there by myself today and have been sexually assaulted by that man. I do not recommend anyone to go there.

Was a lovely camp we had at Bukit Nampo. View from the high, lots of trees, all green! We rented 6 ready tents there, only some of staffs are on standby. They provide public toilets too, parking area distance only 100 meters away from our tents. This is a nice spot to do a camp with couples or friends. Keep our environment clean!
