- marymary27Scarborough, UK948 contributionsWe took a boat trip to view the light show. The show itself was quite short, and the music uninspiring. Watching from the harbour side would have been the same as from the boat, and of course cheaper, so I advise to do that.Written 6 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelBugFromBostonBoston, MA79 contributionsFun way of spending a few hours in Kowloon Park by watching all different types of amateur “Kung fu” performances. We even got to see a lion dance performed and were able to have our picture taken with the “lion”.
The venue is at the south-east corner of Kowloon Park. For the viewers, there was a big tent with rows of plastic chairs set up. I got there about 20 minutes before the performances started and there was still a number of empty seats left. Remaining viewers had to stand.
I stayed for an hour watching the performances and then moved on. It’s not a must do activity in Hong Kong, but I’m still glad I saw it.Written 31 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was confusing to find the way to get there but you can ask someone for directions. It is fired daily at 12pm and you can walk around it afterwards. It also provides information on the history of it.Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BradHong Kong, China1,80,355 contributionsThis is a large-scale LED show that lights up the International Commerce Centre (ICC) building in West Kowloon with short nightly programmes (presently 7.45pm, 8pm and 9pm). The programmes change periodically and provide viewers with interesting and at times impressive illuminations which you can pair with mobile audio that is downloadable from the ICC Light and Music Show website.
Given the height of the ICC skyscraper, you can see the ICC nightly light shows from many locations including from up close in the West Kowloon Cultural District all the way to various skyscraper rooftops and waterfronts on HK Island.
Note: the ICC Light and Music Show now has a sister in the M+ Facade, which faces the harbour just to the south of the ICC tower. Here you see a 65 metre tall and 110 metre wide M+ Museum facade which also projects LED light projections and short programmes from around 7pm to 9pm nightly.Written 14 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Reasonable food items, good coffee and good service. Great space, and nicely laid out.Written 25 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ECWorldHong Kong, China2,784 contributionsInteresting intro to elements of the Cantonese opera repertoire, in a modern and intimate setting (seating less than 200). Subtitles on screen means no need to consult program notes even if you do not understand Cantonese, although some know of Chinese history and culture will make the performance much more comprehensible. Unfortunately during Covid-19 no food or drinks allowed so the 'Tea House' setting goes for naught, but overall quite enjoyable even though I must admit opera (Chinese or Western) is not exactly my cup of tea. But setting quite close to the stage does allow me to watch the footwork, gestures and other details much more clearly. Performers are all young, which is good (this art form need new blood) though they may not be top notch technique wise. All told a worth-while experience.Written 19 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LipsytravelAltrincham, UK2,521 contributionsSo glad that I visited the town hall during my visit to Sheung Shui. I managed to get some useful tourist information about the town and city. There was a tourist information map of Sheung Shui at the entrance of the building as well which was helpful for visitors. I also managed to buy Chinese opera and concert tickets for performances in Hong Kong Concert Hall....etcWritten 2 August 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
