The former Police Married Quarter (PMQ) in Central was restored and repurposed as a creative and design focused shopping venue in Central back in 2014. You won't find the typical luxury and international brand name shops here However. This is a social project whereby affordable space has been set aside for local entrepreneurs, seeking to showcase and grow their businesses as art courses, galleries, lifestyle and consumable products, clothing, fashion, jewellery and all manner of creative shops. There are a couple of casual eateries and coffee shops as well.

In short, if you want to see local Hong Kong brands, there are around 100 small shops that line the floors at PMQ. There are also large scale seasonal decorations along with occasional exhibitions and events that have made for interesting experiences and reasons to visit PMQ over the years. You'll find PMQ along Aberdeen Street in Central. Shops have respective opening hours but are generally open from late morning until evening each day. The venue can be a bit crowded during midday weekends and public holidays but is usually far less crowded than our higher end malls.

Can’t believe there are lots of newly opened cafe in the Mills!! Had a quick Aussie lunch @ Fleur Hong Kong located just opposite to the performance area🥰

    🌟Avo lover $128
(Avocado, Homemade dill salmon avocado shallot tartar, Okonomiyaki, Soft boiled egg, beetroot mayo, Edible flowers)

    🌟Fish lover $138
(Grilled miso salmon, Risotto hash, Pickled mushroom, Green salad, Miso sauce, Edible flowers)

    🌟Fleur lover $128
(Hot cake, Mascarpone cream, Mixed french fruits & berries, Nuts, Organic maple syrup, Edible flowers)
    *Meal preparation time: 20 mins

    🌟Superfruit $44

    🌟Velvet Latte $42

First time I went to the Asia Society's exhibition center , on the Asia Society premises close to Pacific Place and the Shangri-La hotel. Very nice and quiet exhibition pavillion with changing exhibits; there is no entrance charge I visited the exhibit "Fusion", a joint venture organized during the pandemic form 2020 to 2022 by a French -Hong Kong couple of sculptors who bought an old sawmill in Tuscany an operate their sculpture studio there. The exhibit features about 30 works of art and sculptures made out of Italian marble (executed by Italian artists)and wood (executed by Hong Kong artists). Well worth visiting..

Oi! is a public art space project that makes use of the old Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, a Grade II historic building and protected heritage attraction on Electric Road in the Fortress Hill neighbourhood of North Point. It is open from 2pm to 8pm (Mon) and 10am to 8pm (Tues - Sun) and entry is free.

There are 3-4 exhibition halls in use at Oi! most of the time as well as outdoor areas that can be enjoyed. Recently, I visited to see exhibitions presently being held and was particularly impressed with the digital installation and immersive experience of the "Hush-Rush" exhibition by local artist Choi Sai-ho.

There are two installations, one an entire room which the floor displaying a continuous tide rolling up on a beachfront along with the sounds of crashing waves. This is really neat for children and adults alike. The second work is a dark room with a visual representation of flying through a digital urban landscape, quickly making your way through the city with various bird's eye vantage points. This too is a very unique installation worth spending a few minutes to enjoy.

The outdoor sections of Oi! make for good space for the little ones to run around. There are chairs put out by the outdoor Art Screen as well. I enjoyed watching the series of animations of nature, street cars and boats being casted on the day of my visit.

Overall, the rotation of exhibitions this year have been pretty good at Oi! They are doing a nice job of working with local and mainland artists and offering good art experiences for those looking for things to do for half an hour or so in the Fortress Hill and North Point area.

The Jao Tsung-I Academy is a hillside compound of heritage buildings along Castle Peak Road in Lai Chi Kok that were revitalised by the HK Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture (HKIPCC) and named after the late prominent scholar Jao Tsung-I.

The academy was opened to the public in phases between 2012-14 and now features three hillside levels of Grade 3 protected historic buildings that function as a museum with exhibition galleries, activity centre, restaurant, coffee shop and even a hotel. The outdoor grounds are open from 8am to 10pm daily, exhibition halls are open from 10am to 6pm daily. No entry fee required.

The lower level is where you find the Main Gallery which is a testimony to the life and scholarly works of Jao Tsung-I. There is also a Heritage Hall where you can learn about the history of the area and buildings which date back to the late 19th century when a Qing Dynasty Customs house was located here. Later buildings, including those you see today, served as a labourers' quarters, prison, quarantine station, infectious disease hospital and lastly a psychiatric rehab centre which was eventually closed in 2004. There is a statue of Jao Tsung-I and a small but beautiful lotus pond here.

The second level is where you find a series of buildings including another exhibition hall, presently presenting information about Chinese language characters, activity rooms, Hope of Joy restaurant and Coffeeflow. Continuing to the third level, you will find the Heritage Lodge. There are public toilets on each level as well as a series of lifts for those unable to walk up the stairs between levels and guests of the hotel with luggage.

This is the contemporary art museum located within the Tai Kwun Heritage and Culture Centre in Central. Opening hours are 11am to 7pm daily. Here you can view temporary visual-arts and related exhibitions throughout the year. They are usually free-entry in what is an architecturally enjoying building with what is probably the most interesting and photogenic staircase.

There are usually two or three floors holding exhibitions at most times of the year. There is a nice cafe and library space on the 2/F. Presently the cafe making use of this space is called Tozza, replacing Between Coffee which operated here over the past few years.

You'll find other art and performance exhibitions throughout Tai Kwun but it is always interesting passing by JC Contemporary when visiting this heritage and culture venue in Central.

The Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) is a large scale social project in Shek Kep Mei whereby a 9 storey factory estate was restored and repurposed into a multi-disciplinary arts centre, similar but much larger in scale to what can be found at the Cattle Depot Artist Village at Ma Tau Kok.

For the most part the JCCAC was closed down during the pandemic but there have been far more events, courses and the likes taking place there in recent months as Hong Kong has reopened its public and government run facilities around the city.

It takes some research to find activities and studios here suitable and convenient for tourists to visit and take part in. You can browse through the JCCAC website if interested. What visitors can do that is accessible are the coffee shop called Cafe Golden and the delightful Heritage Tea House. These are open daily.

JCCAC is located on Pak Tin Street and is around an 8-10 minute walk from the Shek Kip Mei MTR Station.

I guess my parents would love the architecture. Since I became a jewellery designer, the outsiders think that they will try to take pictures.

...which is on until November, is definitely worth seeing. No pics allowed inside but this exhibition has some truly beautiful paintings. Absolutely free to see and, if you’re absurdly rich, then you can afford to buy some of it in the upcoming auction too I would have thought.

I have been Here a few times with my husband. At first, my husband was not an art fan at all, but the relaxing atmosphere made him love it. He can Express himself through GREAT guidance of teachers Here. Also release pressure from work and develop his creativity.

The atmosphere is relaxing because the place is. Neat and tidy, you will see lots of master pieces hanged around and people around you would appreciate those together. Also teachers Have GREAT patience.

The price is reasonable. And the location was not hard to find, nearby admiralty mtr station.

H Queens is an elegantly designed building on Queen's Road in Central which is 24-stories in height. A handful of art galleries a found at H Queens. You will also find 8-9 restaurants as well as a rooftop bar called Plume. Dang Wen Li by NYC's Dominique Ansel opened up a new flagship bakery on the ground floor last year. A large Lululemon did the same just recently. Both see good sized crowds at the H Queen's building.

Visit the H Queens website for more information about tenants and art events they have sponsored in the past and those they may be involved with in the future.

We came here today and bought two photos of Tai O village, which Irene, the artist, has painted and photographed in great detail, along with other aspects of HK and other scenes too. She was most welcoming and informative and has some great work on show/for sale.
