- KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina70,639 contributionsWe tried a few special teas over an hour in a private booth, while at the same time listening to the music-rich atmosphere. It is on the expensive side. For two of us, it amount to US$160 for our tea and private room. Some of the teas offered sell for over US1,000. Not being an expert in fine tea tasting, I can’t tell the difference between a $5 and $2,000 cup of tea.Written 23 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We paid 200y per person (2 people) for our seats. We saw two stories, we liked it but to our surprise it was done after the second story, this whilst we thought the show would still go on for half an hour. The actors left as fast as they could after their performance. Unfortunately no chance to take pictures with them. The room was empty, i believe we were 35 in total watching the show (mostly tourists). I felt this show wasn't worth the money I paid for since it was that short (1h) and I'm disappointed to not have chosen another venue.
That said, this kind of opera won't be popular with everyone but we enjoyed it as it is part of the local culture and it should remain. The performance was translated so we could follow the stories. I'd recommend it but try to find another venue that will host the show.Written 14 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We went with four friends to see the production of 'My Fair Lady' last week, and before that 'Phantom of the opera' last November. Both productions were exceptional, just wonderful.
Getting there - easiest: give a taxi driver this 天桥演艺区 西城区天桥南大街自然历史博物馆对面
Or get to Zhoushikou on Line 7 - exit D then walk south about a kilometre, you'll reach a square with a tower, the centre is just after that.
There are a number of cafes along the way too if you have time for a coffee.
The building is brand new, beautifully laid out, the seats are comfortable, unlike those in the NCPA there is leg room! The stage is large enough for the most extravagant productions - and it’s a great night out.
The only down side is that the metro will be closed most likely by the time you get out and there’s a scramble for taxis outside. Just wait a bit and things will quieten down and you’ll be able to catch a passing one or even better, as we do, go with a Chinese friend who has a Taxi app!
This in an underused resource in Beijing and one well worth exploring.Written 20 June 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Also, on the website where you book the tickets we were told it would be a performance consisting of excerpts of classic Beijing operas, but there was only one.
Impossible to come in contact with theatre afterwards.Written 26 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
