- Matt LDubai, United Arab Emirates22 contributionsA BRILLIANT TOUR, do not hesitate! This is a food but with a local history tour built in and lead by a fantastic tour guide in Garth. Garth is so knowledgeable, friendly and so well prepared for everything. He knows many locals who all wave, smile and say hello to him and it was so good we booked the dinner tour for the next evening as soon as this one had finished (with a 10% discount as returning guests).
He followed up with an email showing all the places we had visited and all the foods in case we wanted to go back anywhere on our own.
My wife and I are both vegetarians which Garth knew and asked what we didn’t like too so we could avoid.
We’ve done a few tours in different countries and this was the best by a mile. Highly recommend. The tour was great and we were able to try many Beijing foods in the hutongs of Beijing. Justin was personable and welcoming and really knowledgable about the local food and eateries. We tried a variety of foods from filled buns to soups and noodles to even coriander fried chicken, local mandarins and Beijing yogurt drink. This is definately a tour you should be taking of Beijing. Miko was friendly, courteous, and incredibly helpful throughout the tour. His knowledge of the local cuisine and culture was an added bonus to our exploration, making it both enjoyable and informative. Peter was very open and flexible to our wishes. No hidden commercial activities or shopping, just 100% dedicated to showing us the best parts of Beijing, including an amazing Peking Duck dinner and a tryly local restaurant. Afterwards, we had a driving night tour of some of the main sites. The tour company was great in helping us tailor a tour to see exactly what we wished for in a very short time. For sure, right from the beginning of my web request I was able to get a personal and very detailed email back giving me all the details of my inquiry plus a sample of an itinerary that would be achievable within our time frame in China. What impressed me the most was the responsive nature of the travel consultant and the fact that everything they planned for us rolled out just as expected.
Every day had a new memory of the destinations, their stories and the local Chinese food was so tasty, Best holiday we have ever had!! She always make herself available and really is the best guide you could hope for as a foreigner in Beijing. Garth was an excellent guide with enormous knowledge about the food and city history which made a very interesting tour. - Maestra ViajarGuangzhou, China444 contributionsI took this tour with Justin Wan recently and it was really wonderful. We tried a variety of Chinese Muslim foods and even went to a Muslim grocery. I came back the next day to the grocery and got some spices and snacks. It was great to get the initial introduction. Justin knew the best foods. From the lamb and beef meat skewers to the filled buns and soups, to a date and prune and rice dish. It was Chinese New Year also so it was nice to have a guide to lead me to these spots. I liked Justin's tour so much that I took another food tour with him a few days later. - JustMe1 contributionOur tour guide Linda was very knowledgeable and Beijing and Chinese history, the tour was relaxed and we got to sample plenty of local snacks along the way. Linda even took the trouble to buy and drop off breakfast for us at the hotel after the tour ended, knowing that we had a full and hectic schedule the next day. The tour company was professional, courteous and had one of the best customer service with knowledgeable and friendly driver and guide making it an all round fun time. We were picked up on time as scheduled. Patrick did a great job of explaining what to expect and he delivered. He also pointed out possible sites to visit that weren’t part of our tour and we appreciated the efforts as they became the highlight of the whole experience. The driver was on time for drop off and pickup and the time spent at each location was perfectly calculated.
