What travellers are saying
- WonderfulWorld59Lee's Summit, MO431 contributionsMost visitors travel to Cairo to see the pyramids. However, Coptic Cairo and The Coptic Museum are a worthy addition to your tour itinerary. The Coptic Museum in particular is filled with treasures from early Christianity. Many are wooden and stone artifacts from ancient churches as well as textiles and manuscripts. Recently, restoration was completed on the oldest complete Book of Psalms written in the Coptic language (4th century AD), This museum is an interesting and educational way to spend an hour.Written 19 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steven GUnited Arab Emirates4 contributionsI aim to visiting places where people really had a whole life, it gives me a unique feeling to wander around where they lived, to look at things they really used in their daily life, that's why this place is a highlight for me. - AriyyaBangkok, Thailand660 contributionsThis is a hidden gem in Cairo. After you've walked the historical sites at Al-Muizz street, be sure to visit this museum. The building itself is beautiful and the displays are varied and cover a significant time period of Islamic dynasties. The collection has good signage and the place isn't crowded at all. The giftshop has some nice souvenirs and postcards made in Egypt.

Housed in a grand bourgeous building on the 19C, this museum has some of the most remarkable 19-20C art. Paintings by Corot, Monet, Sisley, Gaugin, Jungkrid - sculptures by Rodin - and an eccentric collection of Chinese art. The paintings are amazing and there is no crowd - in fact no one when we were there...

- Katrina YWashington DC, DC8 contributionsThe museum is temporarily closed. One of the caretakers allowed us to walk around the outside of the building where there is some art. There was no information about when it might reopen.Written 9 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
