What travellers are saying
- Ailee P1 contributionA lot of cute and unique stationery on Level 1. Third floor is filled with amazing photography and art books. Can be a bit pricey and most of the artbooks are only in Korean. Amazing experience after all.Written 21 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kunwoo.lee_matthewSeoul, South Korea154 contributionsI visited Kukje for Julian Opie exhibition a couple years back.
Reception was good as the gallery provided valet service.
Their Samchung property is set in a nice mild environment with buildings nearby not too tall. Korea MMCA is also a walk by if you are looking for an artistic dive.
I liked the way the artist / gallery curated the art pieces as if they were natural part of the surrounding environment of the gallery.Written 3 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - edisupp sSeoul, South Korea158 contributionsIf you're in the Insadong area and are interested in bladed weapons you can stop by the Knife Gallery (칼 갤러리). It's a shop with a large rooms of displays. It's near the main walkway in Insadong and near Anguk Station in a small alley. The have many knives, swords, movie replicas, fantasy swords and different bladed weapons from many other countries as well as self defense gear. They have practical daily use knives for sale as well as decorative one.
I believe the entrance was free but suggestion donation was 1,000krw.
It's an interesting stop while walking around Insadong.
BTW, the shop website is only in KoreanWritten 21 May 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. When they rung me up they tried to charge me 500,000 won without telling me. I walked out. Too bad because the artists are talented, but the sleazeball operators will guarantee that these artists never get their work sold. Stay away!Written 5 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Candy2 contributionsDuring my recent trip to Seoul, I stumbled upon Bank Holiday while searching for another location. What a lucky find! The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a vibrant atmosphere filled with unique items ranging from fashion apparel to beautiful art prints and postcards.
The owner was incredibly welcoming and passionate about his collection. We chatted for quite a while, especially about his exclusive items sourced from the UK and France, which made me appreciate the shop even more since I had just returned from London and Paris. He even shared his own works with me, including a memorable postcard titled "Macca's 80th Classic Double Live" — a fantastic photo he took himself in Liverpool, UK, in 2022.
He also mentioned that he’ll be releasing a new series of art soon, and I can’t wait to visit again to see it personally!
If you're in Seoul and have an appreciation for music, art, or simply want to support a shop filled with creative soul, Bank Holiday is an absolute must. I walked away with a great t-shirt for a friend. Highly recommended!Written 2 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The staff is extremely knowledgeable of the pieces & there back stories of the work. Definitely enjoyed our time there. Beautiful gallery featuring East & West areas! Love this place. - Jessica LBoston, MA164 contributionsOne night we wandered into this gorgeous lamp gallery. The artist is a craftsman of incredibly elegant and really interesting paper lamps – the kind of never seen before. They also apparently have paper lantern classes, though we did not have time (will certainly investigate when we come back to Seoul). Right off of Bukchonro road along Bukchon-ro-5.Written 23 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- HengSingapore, Singapore5,181 contributionsNot sure if the owner here is trying to copy the success of common ground as they are also using containers as the main building material. However this is much smaller in scale and has lesser retailers, obviously. One thing I appreciate here is that one of the containers is used as a sitting area for people to hide away from the cold of the winter. Nevertheless it’s quite beautifully done up.Written 19 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
