An amazing cultural experience! Full of life, with great stalls and restaurants. A must-do in Jerusalem. We were there one a Friday afternoon, so perhaps the vibe was extra lively because it was right before Shabbat (not sure!).

The owners were such a pleasure to work with. Their store is well organized and filled with so many unique treasures. They made my dreams come true today when I found a widows mite pendant in silver which was what I fell in love with at a different store earlier that day. They gave me an affordable and fair price. Both gentle men were a pleasure to work with. Both are photoed here with my husband. Thanks guys!

In regards to the money changes at the gates of Jerusalem, (Foreign Currency Exchange), or the Mamilla Mall, , which is at the gates of Jerusalem, of course, the money changes there are sneaky. They are supposed to be, as they say beware of the money changes at the gates of Jerusalem . Read your Bible that’s part of the adventure. They still do thousands of years and I’ve had lots of practice.

Went through Old City Jerusalem to see the "holy sites" & historical places, and happened across this lovely gallery along Christian Quarter Road. Most shops sell trinkets and stereotypical tourist goods at inflated prices, and use pressure sales tactics -- not this place! It's good art, created by locals (local being anywhere in the Israel/Palestine region); some pieces are high-end original artworks ($$$); some pieces are limited number giclee prints on canvas ($$); some pieces are re-printed on postcards ($) all priced reasonably at their respective tiers so that everyone can take home something beautiful from the holy land.

I walked by several times as I got used to the layout of the Old City (Omar's Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre are just down the street, around the corner), and the atmosphere was always lively and cosmopolitan. Lots of foreigners, expats, and locals mixing and chatting with the proprietor and her husband, who are quite lovely people.

This shop is unique to the Old City. Omar’s mosaics does beautiful work with precision detail and artistry. My order was shipped from his shop to my home in the US and was packed with care. I highly recommend visiting Omar Mosaics when you are in the Old City of Jerusalem!

I shop at Baltinester every time I am in Israel. Their Judaica and their jewelry is unique and top quality. It's not what you see in every store....it's a must stop when in Jerusalem. This store has the best jewelry selection and more importantly, the best customer service anywhere!! If they don't have exactly what you want, they will work hard to get it for you, deliver it to you in Israel or ship it to you later. Yoram and Rami are the BEST!! I also shop on the website from home. They couldn't be more accomodating.

Most tourists to Jerusalem focus on the Christian quarter or the Jewish quarter, depending on their religious perspective. But it's definitely worth spending some time in the Armenian quarter.

Have lunch at the Armenian Tavern or another traditional Armenian restaurant and then go to one of the Armenian ceramic studios. There are four in the Old City. Vic's is located between the Armenian Tavern restaurant and the Jaffa Gate.

I got to meet Vic, see him paint a few pieces, and talk to him about his creative process. His small shop is crowded with his creations, ranging from very modern art to traditional paintings on traditional ceramics. (Some of the other studios only do traditional work.) It was neat to hear about his life in the Armenian Quarter, see him work, and take him a beautiful souvenir of this corner of old Jerusalem.

And in case you were wondering, he can do Christian pieces or Judaica. He can also personalize pieces in a variety of languages.

Don't buy anything here. You will not be able to avoid the souk on your trip to Jerusalem. There are interesting things for sale but you will be expected to bargain. You will be constantly hassled but best to avoid replying in a polite way. I noticed some antiquity shops with "certificates" of authenticity for the items. You would be brave to purchase here. However the souk is to beestenjoyed with the colours and smells.

I had the best experience at Devorah Cosmetics. I’m a lone bat sherut and Devorah welcomed my friends and me in. She gave us facials and makeovers and we had a great time!! Would definitely recommend!

My wife and I have visited Israel many times. We always stay in Tel Aviv, but travel to Jerusalem by bus for a day. This artists co-op is a short cab ride from the bus station and a nice walk to the old city. Everything in the store is hand made from artists in Israel. The prices are more than fair and the customer service is incredible. We have purchased both in person and on line and have always been 100% satisfied. I can't recommend this shop enough.
