This is not the site I will go out of my way to see it is just a statue of a girl putting on her lipstick in the park. This park is located just off Nizami Street and there are many other statues in this Park some colorful but this is statue is of pure brass. it's a nice sculpture but it is not something I would advise anyone else to see.

This quirky monument is yet another reason to smile and enjoy Baku. An aside, you will find cats everywhere in Baku and they all seem to be very well treated.

This is a statue of a poet Aliagha Valid. The scenes depicted on the head of the sculpture so closely relate to some of the major issues of the novel. It is very creative done.

Not a lot to see here - but the monument itself is pretty cool - and fitting to the shadowy character that Rixard Zorge was. He was mostly a spy for the Soviet Union between the world wars - and during the second until he was caught by the Japanese. Stalin didn't trust him - even though he had given the USSR at least 2 major pieces of intelligence - and refused to exchange any Japanese captives for him... so Japan executed him in 1944. Note that there is a nice pub just a block away: Praga Restaurant and Pub (across the street from Koala Park ;-) )

The statue is near the carpet museum. The monument symbolizes the victory of good over evil, since the dragon in Eastern mythology was a symbol of evil.

We thought that Nariman is a female name and excited to see a lady statue, and when we got there to see another male statue, it was a funny disappointment. We had fun though then take a little dangerous walk to Flame Towers.

At a central square, right in Baku's Samad Vurgun Street, a monument will catch your attention! It honors Ali Imadud-Din Nasimi, or simply, "Nasimi", one of the greatest poets of the late 14th and early 15th centuries and a master of Azerbaijani epic poetry. Due to his religious beliefs and writings, connected to the Hurufi movement, he was considered blasphemous by contemporary religious authorities, arrested and sentenced to death. In 1417 (probably), he was brutally skinned alive in the city of Aleppo (in today's Syria). A few pictures and it is done, Baku awaits you! Enjoy!

The statue of Sabir shows a steadfast serious thinker. In fact, Sabir was a satirist who wrote his analysis of society towards the end of the 19th century. His readers loved and respected him for his wit. He is one of the most popular authors of Azerbaijan.
I liked the monument, but even more so the parklike square around it. It is near the city walls and gives the visitor a chance to relax while everyday life is going on around Sabir
