While the area is wel known, it is only interesting for first-time pagoda sightseeres. While there are surely better location in Vietnam, this place hs some history and charme. In addition, it is more accesible than similar places.

It was a nice experience. The structures are well maintained and depicts the how powerful and rich the empire was. I would definitely recommend to take a guided tour so that the history lovers will gather a lot of information.

The bumpy road goes on and on yet when you arrive you will be treated to an immaculate, peaceful temple complex much simpler than most others we have seen.

We visited on a cool day with intermittent rain and saw maybe 10 others max. We visited with a young local couple there for the first time.

Without a guide, no doubt we missed a lot. If I were starting over, I would have hired a guide not just a driver.

Consider how difficult to reach the place, it is not worth the trouble. Taxi ride to the other bank cost 175000 VND and the short crossing is 50000 VND On the way back, I had to call a taxi, it was like I had any bargaining power, that I paid 200000 VND WILLINGLY.
The temple is small, even going in the hall caused some comments from the "guardian". No photo allowed and some website says certain buildings are architecturally interesting. Perhaps only the main hall. All others are modern day concrete building, nothing special. You can find them in any street corners in Vietnam.

This monastery where Thich Nhat Hanh was ordained and died is a simple, yet peaceful place. It is not touristy, but a place of reflection. It also houses a shrine dedicated to those who died protecting Buddhism and Buddhist monasteries during the war. It is well worth it to read up on this powerful history. A nice place to spend a few contemplative hours.

Located a short walk from the river on the west side of town, down a side street and up a hill, the temple offers a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.

We were the only tourists there when we went, which made it a very serene place. It also meant we could clearly listen to the monks chant in the temple.

...but there were some people on the grounds today. It is an imposing, grand structure, but its outside does seem like it could use some paint. The grass is overgrown as well. They are constructing a tall building close to it right side which will further detract from its appearance. I've been trying to get a look inside and I keep coming by here to do that, but no one is ever around. I recommend anyone visiting Hue not to make any special effort to come here.

Điện Voi Ré or Miếu Long Châu is a shrine where people warshiped the elephants that were fighting in the Tiger arena which is nearby. In my opinion the tigers needed prayers because none of them went alive from a battle with an elephant.
