What travellers are saying
- JacqalBushey, UK559 contributionsFirstly we didn't go on a tour - just walked in and bought a ticket - so I am not sure whether this is the right place to review!
As others have said this museum is not for the feint hearted. Its name is a little spurious as it is really a museum totally committed to presenting the horrors and atrocities the Americans committed in the Vietnam war. It presents only one side of the story chronicling what the Americans did and the impact it had.
That said, for those of us in the UK who were alive at the time and thought we were aware of the war, it provided a very sharp awakening to the terrible atrocities of war, especially the Vietnam war. We know the Americans largely escaped any retribution and it is clear that carried out some heinous crimes.
Some of the rooms, especially the photos of those handicapped and disfigured by the chemical weapons used are extremely hard to see and my partner had to leave the room part way through.
There was far more to read than we were expecting and it was too much to take it all in. One could spend hours here if one was prepared to look at everything. I think it could do with more videos - there was only one mainly describing the cages used to keep prisoners showing in the main hall.
Another challenge was that the main atrium is not air conditioned and on the very hot humid day we visited it, it became a dash into the various rooms to try and keep cool. Additionally, apart from in the main entrance, there are very few seats, no escalators to the upper floors and only one lift supposedly for disabled and older people. We used it and there wasn't a long wait.Written 22 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some very nice tourist outlets inside of the entrance with not too bad prices either. Great place to escape the heat of the city.Written 20 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stefano SLusiana, Italy1,474 contributionsMy first skyscraper, lovely experience. You can arrive until the 49th floor with a very little cost. I suggest to visit it around sunset, all the commercial area and the skyscrapers around will sparkle of lights. The view is at 360° over the town, unfortunately the reflection of the internal lights troubles the pictures and you need to writhe in order to find the right spot.Written 29 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Film GNew England1,061 contributionsWell preserved, including the bunker and war rooms. Mostly it’s various reception rooms with notices explaining what they are. Less interesting than imagined. Great history, yes, but a bit dull. No air conditioning and it gets hot inside.Written 16 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LaLaKToronto, Canada752 contributionsGood quick food with LOTS of selection. I’ve been here 4x in 2 years as I visit Saigon. It’s clean and quick service with many options to choose from. Staff here are great, quick to clean up anything people leave over on the tables (tables are shared). It’s a large open space with picnic type tables for people to share and use, since it’s a food market. The foods to choose from include but not limited to: Vietnamese, Indian, American, Italian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese to name some. Dinner for two cost $12 CAD for 2 people which was a fried chicken Bao Bun, 1 large beer, 1 regular beer and a Bánh Mi.
Previously the price for 2 full plate Com Tam and 2 beers was $18 CAD approx.

Maybe not as elaborate or decorative as some opera houses round the world and the seats not the most comfortable. Worth a visit.Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- YllarViljandi84 contributionsQuite a polite market. Higher quality goods than usual, but not all. A lot of replica products, but also quite OK quality local fashion clothes. The rooms are air-conditioned and the sellers are not as pushy as in the neighbouring Ben Thanh Market. Some merchants are not willing to negotiate on the price at all, but with some you can even negotiate the price for half the price. As always in such places, you need to know in advance the price of the goods you want to buy or first try to negotiate the price with a couple of merchants and see what price they are willing to sell for. In the neighbouring Ben Thanh Market, the general price level is cheaper, but the quality of the goods is also poorer.Written 7 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand4,459 contributionsThe Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon is an impressive French-era church completed in 1880. The 60-meter tall spires stand in classic style. Unfortunately, for current tourists, the building is undergoing a lengthy multi-year renovation and is shrouded in scaffolding. The church is closed to the public most of the time, but visitors can enter during the time of Masses on Sunday or 5:15 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. weekdays.Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stuart BCarshalton, UK615 contributionsIt is like no other puppet show you will have ever seen. The Music and voices are provided by a group of talented artists either side of the pond.

Visit itself only takes 10-15 minutes but it feels like a place of peace. Celebrating the reverence to the mother of the seas for over 300 years
Light an incense ring and say a prayer . Who knows it might just work
It’s about a 20 minute drive from the central area to Chinatown so an effort to get there but when in Saigon then perhaps worth two g the extra time to visit the historic Chinatown
Though must say if you have been to other Chinatown’s there isn’t anything g particularly different in SaigonsWritten 27 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Krystal A5 contributionsReally interesting museum, not one I would have picked out myself but was so worth the trip. Learned a lot about traditional medicine and loved the warmth from the peppermint oil they provided a sample of.
