- krawnerChicago, IL2,015 contributionsBased on the movie Jumanji, the escape room Secrets of the Jungle was fun and entertaining. Set was ok, but not immersive. Puzzles were interesting with a mix of high tech and combo locks, hands-on puzzles and mind puzzles. English-speaking moderator was excellent at giving hints that guided us without giving us direct answers. Takes cash and credit card (although credit card machine is finicky so cash is preferable). Games are 400,000-500,000 VND each with 100,000 surcharge for weekends and Friday nights.Written 2 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bec ArnoldMount Waverley, Australia88 contributionsMy partner and I went today, admittedly we only picked this venue as the other higher rated one wasn't accepting foreigners due to the corona virus, however, we actually really enjoyed the room. We didn't pre-book before we came but they were still able to accommodate us and the room we wanted. We were able to put our belongings in a locker and the price was 240,000 each for the 2 of us. Pretty reasonable price compared to some we've done previously. We did the casino/red dragon pub room. It was rated 4/5 difficulty and we chose 'easy' which gave us 3 clues.
The puzzles were nice and varied and it was all pretty clever. At times the staff were a bit slow getting to us when we needed a clue which did waste a bit of time, you ask for help by making an X with your arms towards the camera, not the most time efficient way but he did come and help us.
We did get stuck for a while in the last room because the automatic door shut behind us which meant we couldn't access things we needed from other rooms.. it took a bit of time to get his attention to come and rescue us but he was generous and gave us an extra 15mins to make up for it.
The final puzzle absolutely made zero sense for this room so we needed help with it, even with the explanation we still don't think anyone would work it out.
It was a fun way to spend the morning. It's definitely not the best production we've ever done but it's pretty good. We would happily go back and attempt the other rooms if we had the time.Written 12 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cal20202020Cardiff, UK28 contributionsWhat an incredible trip. My partner and I (25 and 37) booked this trip hoping for a tour to see the countryside of Vietnam- what a great way to do it. 100% recommend.
Staff- 10/10- all staff were friendly and approachable. We both had easy riders. We were unsure on weather to self ride but we are so glad we got easy riders. It made the experience so much better. We could take in the views, film and not worry about driving down some VERY difficult roads. Some drive themselves and regretted it.
Hostels- 10/10- first time staying in hostels. First night was not as nice as the rest but absolutely fine. The hostels are really nice. There are 2 single beds separated by a curtain so you still get lots of privacy.
Food- 10/10- breakfast was a chalice of an egg baguette, pho or banana pancakes. For lunch you stop off at a local eatery. All Vietnamese food. We were really impressed at every stop. Some of the nicest food we’d had on our whole holidays. Evening food was different each night. Mixture of Vietnamese foods and hotpot.
Best part about this trip is meeting other people. We really enjoyed building friendships with others. If you’re not looking to party and get drunk, this was great because you can easy choose to drink or not. If you want to drink, this is still a great option. Karaoke and evening entertainment was really fun.
Overall, this is something you CANNOT miss out on!!!!!!!!!!!Written 6 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were always given the option to take the easy or hard road, but it was always strongly recommended to take the more difficult road because it had fewer tourists. The 'hard' option personally didn't always feel worth it, because I was paying more attention to my foot placement than my surroundings because of the steep and slippery slopes. At times it was very tiring to drag along clothes for 3 days in the hot weather. Unfortunately we only realized later you had the option to have your clothes sent to your homestay for 10 USD. Speaking of which, the homestays were a pleasant experience. The people were extremely friendly, the setting was always beautiful, the beds were comfortable and had mosquito nets. Don't expect any luxury, however. Our guide was really helpful and friendly as well. We did get followed by a few local kids who expect you to pay them for their services. Be it holding your hand or offering you a gift. The trekking with Sapa Sisters is a bit more pricey but help the local people get a fair wage as opposed to other organizations.Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew W2 contributionsTonkin Travel organised our internal flights, hotels, private guide and drivers throughout our Indo China Private Tour to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Everything went to plan, their recommendations were excellent and their choice of guide and drivers/cars meant that we felt very safe on our travels. The guides local knowledge was superb. I would have no hesitation in recommending Tonkin Travel for your Indo China Tour arrangementsWritten 31 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - christinielinguiniSan Francisco, CA3 contributionsWonderful travel agency. Very communicative and responsive (via whatsapp) if I had any questions. They make sure to check in to make sure I got to my destination and things are going smoothly. I was only in Vietnam for 4 days and was still able to fit a lot thanks to chestnuttravel! I went as a solo female traveler on the 2D/1N Ha Giang loop and a day trip bus tour to Ninh Binh. Chestnut helped arrange everything for me including transport from / back to Hanoi Old Quarter via sleeper bus the night before the Ha Giang loop as well as the night after the tour finished. Other travelers got transport straight to other places like Sapa or Cat Ba which I sorta wish I did in hindsight. They make sure you are aware of accommodation and transport situation and are clear about the schedule which I appreciated a lot! Everything was so well planned from start to finish and I felt safe and at ease the whole way. They even provided a hostel to rest/shower at the morning before the loop since we arrive around 4 am as well as the evening time at the end when waiting for my sleeper bus to go back to Ha Noi. I went with the easy rider option and I felt very safe with my driver. Check the weather for when you go since it was very foggy (low visibility) and a little rainy when I went and so our group missed out on some of the main pit stop views, but we did see some other amazing views during the ride so I would say it was still overall fun and worthwhile! The day trip to Ninh Binh was a bit more crowded and touristy, but was fun since there were lots of activities and sights fit into one day: we went to temples, had a short bike ride post lunch to a nearby rice paddy, did a very cool row boat ride through some caves, and a quick hike up mua cave (600 steps up)!Written 14 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The trip I will remember!
1. Organization is good. Linh answered all the questions in the email before the trip.
2. Riders are experienced and safe.
3. Food on route is amazing.
4. THE NATURE AND VIEWS!!! WOW!!!
5. Homestays along the way are good with beautiful views.
I took single room option.
6. Charity food to local Khmong family that we bought and brought along the way is a great way to support local communities.
I remember how happy were the children of the family we brought food to.

I regularly need to rent a motorbike when I have visitors from Australia or the US. Recently, my cousin from the USA and I arranged a trip from Hanoi to the south of Vietnam. We had used Flamingo Motorcycle previously and were happy with the service. This time we went to the office in the old quarter, the staff (particularly Ms Thuy) remembered us from a previous contact. The range of motorcycles available is quite extensive - I booked a Versys 300 ADV bike for 10 days, and my cousin booked a Honda 150cc Winner for the same time. After paying the fee and $1,000 cash deposit for each bike, we went back to my apartment. As arranged, at 5pm that day the 2 motorbikes were delivered to my apartment. Mr Hiep gave us a thorough introduction to the bikes and took photos. The bikes were well prepared, clean, had recent oil change and had at least 2 litres of fuel.
We left for the south of Vietnam the next morning. Both bikes performed very well. Everything worked, we had no mechanical issues, depite sometimes hot weather in heavy traffic, and rain and wind. We took a couple of days to ride to Hue in central Vietnam, spent a day there relaxing, then my cousin headed south to Saigon, and I returned to Hanoi. I rode back (570km in one day) and the bike did not miss a beat. I contacted Ms Thuy to tell her I would not need the bike for the full rental period and, as per the contract, she agreed to pay me back 70% of the fee for the remaining days of my contract. She made the bank transfer within 2 hours. Mr Hiep came the next day to collect the bike. He paid me my cash deposit without question, and he rode the bike away.
All in all, a very professional and happy experience. I recommend Flamingo Motorcycle unreservedly and without question. Hanoidave.Written 3 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
