- Wre2nxtManchester, UK296 contributionsI was picked up, on time, by a friendly driver who then took me to the office.
At the office, I completed registration by filling in a small form.
Then, a pickup truck takes you for a 10 minute drive to the sanctuary.
Once there, you wait for the other participants. The sanctuary lays on a great breakfast for free! Juice, toast, ceral & fruit, all while you wait!
You then get fitted for Wellington boots/waterproof footwear and fresh socks so you do not ruin your own shoes. They have small lockers for you to keep your bag, shoes, and belongings, as all you need is your phone/camera. Mosquito spray is also provided free of charge!
Before you leave to trek the nature reserve, they show you a 10 video on why and how the sanctuary started. Some of the stories are very sad and upsetting, but this just allows you to feel better when you see how the elephants are so well cared for now!
A guide takes you through the sanctuary, and you will meet around 8 elephants and hear their stories and take a photo or two.
You can even feed the elephants in a small area at the start. They certainly enjoy food!
After, you will have a free lunch. The lunch is amazing quality, and delicious. We'll done to the chefs.
There is also a shop to purchase elephant related products which go towards helping to care for them in the future!

Wonderful snorkeling at Phi Phi with such a variety of colorful marine life. Paddleboarding was fun. We enjoyed all the stops including Maya Beach and Pileh Lagoon. Lunch was excellent at the Phi Phi restaurant overlooking the sea in the middle of the island. We could also buy some snacks and ice creams in this area. Having a guide paddle us through the caves and around was wonderful and let me focus on the beauty of nature. Max was a grate guide! The food was OUTSTANDING!!! Above and beyond my expectations. The offering and bioluminescence experience were just a fun bonus. Guide Alex and Capitan Bella were great, informative and paid attention to all clients. Would highly recommend!! Please note the crew on the boat and all the boats work so hard to make this experience seamless. I watched the “ballet” they do trying to get all boats to the beach for lunch. Breakfast and drinks were provided free of charge before you boarded the speed boat. Our guide ‘Icecream’ was fantastic and so friendly.
We had various stops throughout the day and chance to snorkel and kayak which was amazing. Snorkelling equipment and Kayak was included in the tour. We saw the monkeys on Monkey beach and also stopped at Maya Bay.
Lunch was in one of the restaurants on Phi Phi Don and there was a great choice of food.
We were also fed and drinks were readily available on the boat as well.
It was a bit choppy on the way back and Icecream kept checking we were alright.
In summary what a fantastic experience which I would highly recommend. Icecream and all the crew were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Looking out from the view point and from the big buddah give such a great view of the Patong Beach Area. Take ear plugs as it's very noisy. Overall very enjoyable and I'd go back with Seastar. He was also very helpful with taking photos and knowing the best view spots. We did the 2 hr excursion. He's also multi-lingual and has been diving since he was 14. The hiking to the waterfalls was a great experience of seeing a rain forest with all kinds of plants, mushrooms, red crab, millipede etc. The lunch was excellent!! Some of the Best Thai food we have had with an incredible atmosphere! Then we went to the hot springs which was a perfect way to end the tour! All of this was so wonderful but what made it even better was having Bond and Ban as our guides! They are Awesome!! We also had LiWen in our group! We started out as strangers and we all became a family for this tour! We laughed and had the Best time ever!! Thank you so much for making this adventure the Best!!
