- J HSunnyvale, CA6 contributionsAim 1) took us to places which gained attention for particular dishes, 2) succinctly explained local history to connect the Burmese, Indian, Portuguese and Chinese influences on Northern Thai cuisine, and 3) generously shared nutritional information of many foods, in particular fruits. She first asked about spice tolerance (thank you!), and always offered seconds. I was stuffed, but wished I had room for more.

We tried so many different types of food and got a great understanding of the local cuisine. - PlantCityFLPlant City, FL24 contributionsWe had an absolutely amazing food/history tour with PT. Her knowledge of the food culture as well as the history of Thailand and Chiang Mai was very impressive.
We went with another couple and it was just us 4 which was really great because we had some flexibility on our stops and food choices.
PT took us to restaurants and markets that locals eat at and ordered us some local dishes. We tried so many fruits we never see in the states. She also gave us recommendations for dinner and shopping hints.
As much fun and informative the tour was the crown jewel was learning about how it all started and how the owner is instrumental in improving so many lives (can’t give away specifics, take the tour and hear for yourself).

There a specific stops along the way but she tailored items to what we wanted to try. So many hidden gems that we would not have stumbled across. We learned that several of the ingredients are actually flavour ingredients only and are removed from the dish prior to eating. - G. HCharlotte, NC5 contributionsI booked this dinner cruise for myself and my fiance. When we ushered on board, I asked about the dinner. There was something said about a "set menu," and we were handed menus. There was nothing noted on my booking reservation about this set menu. I tried to ask about the set menu, but I was asked what I would like to order from the menu. Before sailing, we were brought enough food to feed 5-6 people which filled up the whole table. I was confused about this, and when I inquired, I was met with only smiles. Furthermore, during the remainder of dinner and the cruise, I watched the one waiter on board attend to all of the other tables several times, and clearing their dishes, and bringing them all ice cream for dessert. A full half hour later, after noting everyone else had finished their dessert and tables cleaned, I called the waiter over to ask him to clear our dishes. When we returned to the dock, they tried to charge us extra for the dinner we had ordered from the menu. I explained that this was pushed on us, and not made clear about the "Set Menu," that I had no choice in. This seems like a typical bait and switch scam.
