Not far from Banglamphu, twenty minute walk, maybe, to the King Rama VIII park on the other side... nice to get a bit of space and take in a really impressive bridge...

We went to opening ceremony for new Rama X bridge. The new Rama X bridge is next to Rama IX bridge. The new bridge is beautiful. The opening ceremony has food stalls and music. The hike to the middle of the bridge is about 1.5 km.

R Walk is the Skywalk Bridge that will take one to walk to various shopping malls as it connects several shopping centres. One will not have to walk under the hot sun or along the cramped bridge by the side of the road, ignoring the chance to encounter traffic jams on the road and also see the city along the way as well
Like most frequent travelers to Pratunam we love this Ratchaprasong Skyline Walk as it provides a quick way to get from building to building; from Big C all the way to Gaysorn Village/Mall and a right turn will ultimately lead you to BTS Chidlom or Siam! One can even see the Erawan shrine beside from this part of the R-Walk. Such is the brilliant convenience. 😊
There are even maps points available at various location showing various temples and points of interest along this walkway!
    Good bonus for all..!

A useful vehicle & pedestrian bridge across the Chao Phraya River connecting Rattanakosin Island to Thonburi on the right bank of the river. It is undergoing renovation with improvement to the steps, the footpaths either side, barriers and cladding on the bridge. Walking up the steps on the Rattanakosin Island side affords a good view of the river, especially upstream to the Rama VIII cable-stayed bridge.

91 years ago King Prajadhipok opened the bridge in memory of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Bangkok. The bridge was constructed by a British company and is nearly 700 m long.

This suspended bridge is a part of the new Ratchaprasong Skyline Walk. It was completed in 2017. Escalators connect the bridge to the ground and the BTS lines run over it. I loved the way it connected several shopping centres and the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. It connects MBK, Siam Square and Siam Discovery which then lead to other malls. The Sky Bridge is beautifully decorated with cute little statues, coloured flooring, stylish umbrellas, plants and interesting seats for the shopping worn customers. There is even a tiny little temple on it. The shoppers can move from mall to mall without facing the traffic or the harsh elements. Ladies with high heals can walk around easily as the flooring is even. I found the concept of a Sky Bridge very people friendly.

An interesting and quite unusual bridge, distinguished by its original design. It perfectly fits into the aesthetics of the city. It is also very easy to locate. The bridge is close to Lumphini Park and King Rama VI monument. Si Lom Metro Station is also a good landmark.

This bridge was built in 1982 which eased the traffic situation crossing the river between the two areas of Bangkok.
