My first visit to Goa was in March 2019 and I was amazed by the number of jewellery shops on the streets of Calangute.
I spent a delightful half day shopping with Ketaki last Tuesday.
It is mostly a wholesale market but Ketaki knows the right shop keepers who will sell to her (you) retail.

And in the centre of the treasure trove, as if being surrounded by all this glittering beauty was entirely normal, sits Bhawani, calmly enjoying our delighted astonishment as each glowing textile is cast at our feet.
Bhawani is an amazing person who makes unique art using fabrics with a history, such as saris used in weddings or clothing from surrounding desert villages.
Great chai, visit to market, Victoria station, Gandhi’s house, laundry, Gateway to India etc. Then a stop off at a recommended tailor for some bespoke linen shirts and a drop off at a restaurant for local cuisine.

Between our visit to Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, Talib asked us if we wanted to visit local artisans and their shops since we were very interested in the local art and crafts, totally optional but definitely worth it.
He was punctual, professional, and did a fantastic job at explaining complex information from the construction of the Taj Mahal to the intricacies of Indian history and culture.
We met up with our guide Sandeep at Agra and this guy was super knowledgeable and accommodating to any random needs- coffee, pictures, sari shopping; made my Agra trip more than just the Taj Mahal.
The tour was excellent, the marble engraving shop he took us to was beautiful.

We spent a really interesting and fun time with Naresh and Jitentra who gave us an insight to the different materials they use and the working steps to finish such fine paintings that you can find at their shop.
The miniature and detailed painting of authentic Indian art is so expensive in the tourist trap shops that it was wonderful to find this little gem in the back streets of Udaipur.
