- Jitendra GDubai, United Arab Emirates9 contributionsThis place always brings in the calmness in a person. A great location for capturing good photographs on a clear day. The days can sometimes be cloudyWritten 25 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- UgyenNoida, India286 contributionsBuddha Dordenma: Sitting on top of Kuensel Phodrang hill is a huge statue of 51.5-m bronze statue of Buddha (founder of Buddhism).
The Buddha Dordenman. Interestingly, the statue itself is the home for over 100,000 smaller statues of Buddha, made from bronze and gold.
The site also offers unobstructed views over the Thimphu Valley - especially stunning at sunsetWritten 27 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - UgyenNoida, India286 contributionsMust visit for those who visit Thimphu, one of the best place to explore and understand Bhutanese beautiful and great architurture. also most insta captioned place of Thimphu. - AZCasualTravelerMesa, AZ1,831 contributionsThe National Memorial Chorten was built in memory of Third Druk Gyalpo and is dedicated to World Peace.
The Thimphu Chorten is a nice place to visit that is located near Thimphu city center. When we had arrived, there was a nice size crowd already here - turning the prayer wheels, walking around the Stupa and paying tribute.
The atmosphere at the Stupa was peaceful and relaxing - the grounds around the Stupa is like a well manicured park area - green grass and nice ambiance.Written 15 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - AHKE Adventure TravelThimphu, Bhutan86 contributionsHere at Simply Bhutan, you can see the culture and tradition of Bhutan through household tools and other items of Bhutanese origin. You can also have a sumptuous lunch of Bhutanese cuisinesWritten 28 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- UgyenNoida, India286 contributionsThis place is must visit for me at least once in a year to make offering and seek blessings from the local local deity as I was born in and brought up in Thimphu. Almost all kids who are born in Thimphu and was brought here after 3 days of birth by their parents have to do the same. Am Sure everyone will understand why is it so?
But for Tourist if your are spiritual and is seeking blessings can always visit.
Dont forget to carry your Kabney and Rachu if your are bhutanese. Foreigners i think its exceptional.Written 6 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Rajiv WUttar Pradesh, India267 contributionsTakin is a rare species- looks like a combination of Goat head and body of ox/buffalo. There is a Bhutanese story on this creation.Specially went to see and take photos for my grandson Shiv, who has a good knowledge of animals and was very keen to know.Written 2 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- AZCasualTravelerMesa, AZ1,831 contributionsThe National Folk Heritage Museum is located only a few minutes from Thimphu city center. This "Museum" is not your typical one (a building housing artifacts from the past). I would call this Museum a "Living History Museum", which is defined as a Museum that actually recreates historical settings of past time periods - the conditions, culture and natural environment of the past. In the case of the National Folk Heritage Museum, the Museum building itself is more than 150 years old residence and the surrounding area is a very good simulation of what life was like during that time period.
The entrance to the "Museum" or old historic home opens into a courtyard where fire wood, farming equipment and grain is stored. This courtyard also contains a stone oven for burning incense and wooden mortars for pounding rice. The Museum second floor level was used mainly for storage of grain and food items. The Museum (top) third floor level was the living, dining and sleeping areas.
Interesting to visit an actual 150 year old residence that has now been restored to become the "National Folk Heritage Museum", which the Bhutan government is wanting to preserve the old Bhutanese heritage and rural life from the past.Written 15 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - RupsSilchar, India58 contributionsThe place is situated in the middle of the town THIMPU . - AZCasualTravelerMesa, AZ1,831 contributionsThe Pangri Zampa Monastery is also the site of the College of Astrology in Thimphu and the location of this Monastery could not be any better. It is situated in a very nice quiet, green valley not to far from Thimphu. One thing that is not to be missed here - check-out the giant cypress tree here at the Monastery - it is huge!
This Monastery is a good example of traditional Bhutanese style architecture that is prevalent in Bhutan.Written 15 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Karma JangchubThimphu, Bhutan29 contributionsThis was the place where Zhabdrung first arrive and settled after he came from Tibet in 1616 when he was 20 years old.
He built the temple there and named it as dzong but later 1629 after he built a much bigger dzong/fort then he removed the name dzong and named it as a Lhakhang only meaning a temple.
There is a stupa inside the first floor of the temple which holds the sacred relics of Zhabdrung's father Yab Tenpai Nima.Written 22 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - kevs2011Paris, France9 contributionsWe had a wonderful experience traveling to Bhutan in 2018.
