Station built on early 1900’s and still a very busy station with train travel relatively cheap in Mozambique. Only a few platforms but madly busy. Couple of the original locomotives on display in the station. Along the platforms there are some great historical posters of the station’s construction and development. Also has great views of the Maputo suspension bring, especially at night.

The exhibits were interesting but some rooms or walkways were not accessible due to maintenance needing to be done. We found the outdoor dinosaurs fun and some of the indoor exhibits very interesting though. Worth the visit, just wish it was in better shape.

Located in centre of Maputo. Designed by one of the sons of the Portugese prime ministers when under Portugese rule. Affectionately and understandably nick named the Lemon Grater by locals. Church is free and open to view, but like all places of worship, just be respectful of worshippers using the church. Worth a stop.

We have seen better markets, but that goes for almost everything in Maputo, so defenitely worth a look. Food and non-food here, lots of wigs.

Located in independent square. Free to enter. Beautiful simple designed cathedral from early 1900. Free to enter, just be mindful of worshippers. Worth a stop.

The Museum of the Railroads of Mozambique is a treasure of colonial architecture that is well preserved, clean, and interesting. There are antique train engines on view and the building itself. It is a must see on any visit to Maputo.

There is no reason to go to Maputo to see this museum, but if you are in the area it is worth to spend 45 minutes in this Museum. Besides the old coins and banknotes from Mozambique and the world, it is interesting to see one of the oldest buildings from Maputo from the inside.

Really enjoyed this small exhibition of local artists. Wood carvings and paintings. The 20 metical entrance fee was cheap.

Just next to Maputo port, the musuem get attention from those who walk by to look at the architecture design of the building itself. Display of fishing gears and boats from the past let you know the way of living of artisanal fishermen in Mozambique. Those who are of intetested in fishery aspect should not missed.

There are a few interesting explanations but most of what you see are hundreds of different stones. I would only recommend this museum, if you are interested in stones ( I am not) or have nothing else to do.

Having arrived in Maputo on a Tuesday, we decided to check out Gil Vicente's - arrived at about 11 and there was no band yet and only a few people in there. A long day's travel had us tired so we stuck around and waited for the band to arrive - they really were excellent.

Once the "karaoke" singers went up the atmosphere cranked up a notch, though this was not your screeching drunks kind of show, the singers were incredibly talented while we were there.

A cover charge of 20 mets applies, and a beer is about 10 mets so great value for a night out.
