- Janine J3 contributionsThis was a truly unforgettable experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has chance to go on this tour! Calisto the guide was wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable and adaptable - I learned so much, about the animals and birds and even about the plants that his grandmother still uses medicinally. My day was made when a giraffe walked across the road as we entered the park and everything else was a bonus - such a beautiful setting and to go to the coast and surf the waves was stunning (take your swimming gear!) No lions in this park, it’s a ‘Peace Park’ - although the elephants apparently still remember times when it wasn’t so peaceful… we saw lots of different antelope, wildebeest, wonderful warthogs, hippos, crocodiles, zebra, elephants, more giraffes, beautiful birds and gorgeous water lilies on the lakes. Truly amazing! I will be saving up to stay overnight on one of the camps next time I go and so glad I chose this tour from Maputo over going to Kruger to chase ‘the big five.’ The landscape here was so worth it! This was a solo trip only because it was a quiet time with no other bookings - much more expensive than I’d planned on, but really worth it. - Martijn D3 contributionsThis has been the best day of my Mozambique trip. I stayed in Maputo and got picked up from my accomodation. Don't be afraid of an early pick-up (5 AM). It will all be worth it!
Border cross was smoth as. No worries for a EU-citizen.
Kruger is amazing, don't let other people tell you otherwise. There might be a high amount of 'common' animals, but still, it is an amazing site for my first real safari. We saw: heaps of: elephans/giraffes/wildebeest/zebras/impalas/monkeys/hippo's. We were lucky to catch a lion with 3 chubs, which is not a common thing.
Service from Maputo tours was good, I was accompanied by a very experienced ranger who took its responsibility to spot as much animals as possible in one day. Even after 5 hours of driving around (in 38 degrees). Swimming in the ocean halfway through a game drive was really an incredible experience. Maputo City Tours were very professional, everything ran like clockwork which was impressive considering that the park is very underdeveloped. Some of the sand was very deep and our guide drive very well.

Our driver, George, picked us up in Maputo at our apartment in a clean, well-conditioned van, and he was very courteous and considerate. During the drive to and from Kruger, he helped us navigate through the border crossing, which made the process go much smoother.
Once we arrived in Kruger, George handed us over to our Kruger tour guide for the next 2-days, Doctor, who was absolutely fantastic!!! Doctor not only had an amazing knowledge of all of the animals and plants within the park, but he was also fun, considerate, and attentive to his guests. He made sure we got to see everything we wanted to, including four of the Big Five (no cheetah sitings on this trip, maybe next time). For anyone lucky enough to have Doctor as their guide, they are in for a treat!!!
Our accommodations at the Crocodile Kruger Safari Lodge were first class, with an amazing view, beautiful and comfortable facilities, and delicious dinner. Since we had an early morning departure on day 2, they even packed us a to-go breakfast bag for the morning.
We just can say enough good things about this trip. Excellent job by Tours Maputo and On-Safari. For tours crossing an African border, chances of getting hassles by immigration alike could exist. With the excellent arrangements and proper documentations by Simão, the tour was smooth enough. Simão, as the guide/driver, ensured a safe drive across the gorgeous landscape of Southern Mozambique. He was also knowledgable and knows English, Portuguese (official language of Mozambique) and the local language in Eswatini, eliminating all potential problems. He has a nice character who takes care of his guests much by heart and perfectly accommodates their needs.
The highlight of this tour was, of course, seeing rhinos! The ranger offered us a chance to walk a bit to somewhere within metres of these endangered animals. The ranger was, on the other hand, very experienced that he didn’t disturb and draw the attention of the rhinos, whilst ensuring our safety all the time. How impressive! We were also lucky enough to see lions, elephants, baboons, giraffes, etc., let alone various beautiful birds, during the safari. This was such an unforgettable experience!
Besides the safari, Simão also introduced me the culture and local issues of Mozambique and Eswatini. You drive through the safari-park for approximately three hours looking for animals and seeing the fantastic nature. Then you arive at Anvil Bay, a small collection of houses nestled in the forest at the beach. A truly beuatiful place! The team is super generous and trying hard to show you as much as possible and give you the best service. We did not only experience a great safari tour but also a campsite next to a paradisiacal beach.
