What travellers are saying
- qualitywork1Taunton, UK421 contributionsPort DE peche is a very interesting place. It is a working fishing port and one of the biggest in West Africa. Try and get there for late afternoon to watch the fishing boats come in and land their fish. It is a hectic experience as there are so many boats. It is dirty, smelly, noisy, colourful, fast moving place.
Make sure you visit for a real African experience . Expect to see no foreigners or tourists.Written 13 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andy WZaventem, Belgium317 contributionsIf you want a khaima (traditional tent of the area) this is the place to go. The many market stalls make it a challenge to choose. I learned a valuable lesson while buying a carpet at the Egyptian Market in Istanbul. Before you go know the size, basic pattern and colors you want and stick to it otherwise you will spend hours (which isn't bad if you have the time) I went in and just started. I don't know the local language or French but that wasn't a problem because I knew what I wanted. After an hour or a bit more and several cups of tea we realized the khaimas all started looking the same. We went back to our original plan and quickly choose the one we wanted. Happy with our choice and price. We knew a head what we should pay. We left with what we came for, greatly enjoyed the experience, and if family or friends ever come to visit we will take them here. Well worth the experience.Written 30 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Andy WZaventem, Belgium317 contributionsI wasn't dressed correctly to go in but found the area very interesting and worth a visit. I got some great photos of the Mosque and of the area but had to be discrete. I walked alone and wasn't bothered by anyone. I can recommend a visit.Written 30 April 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- michaelcorrea6 contributionsI found this company through my hotel in Nouakchott. I got in contact and we made a 4 days - 3 nights tour in the desert. We visited Terjit, Adar, Ouadane and Chinghetti. In fact, we visited a lot of more places. All the treatment was amazing, both from the driver and from the guide. We got in touch with locals and could see how the real nomads live today. Basically the same life of 1000 years ago, with some small differences. If I recommend the tour and the company? Of course I do. Mauritania deserves a visit.Written 9 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
