Unforgettable “disappearing” island with beautiful snorkelling (along the coral reef joining three islands) and perfect white sandy beach

Nice, white beaches. Sunbeds available if its not busy. Sundays are busy.
    Easy serving from a restaurant.
Remember sunscreen, sunglases and drinking water.

After just having arrived back from Arusha by bus so having seen a number of these traditional villages along the way (both ways) and also having seen some Maasai villages & such in the area around Serengeti, it was just kind of a "non-excitement" to see this village which I would say in more accurate terms is like a collection of tiny parts of a number of villages each representing a tribe and actually likely only certain tribes represented here based on the number of structures (my estimate of somewhere around 15 structures for the total number of tribes numbering about a hundred as seen on one of the info displays on site). So yes, not being in a real village (as also reminded by all the modern high-rises surrounding the site), it was still a "pleasant walk" around the site grounds scattered with huts & earth dwellings almost all of which can also be entered (for a bit of a chance to "actually feel" the day-to-day living of the tribal people) and where I also learned some "interesting facts" (such as that women cannot be present near the cone-shaped furnace during the "iron smelting", the dwelling of the second wife has to be located in such a way that she always has to go past that of the first wife, and both boys & girls arriving at a certain age build on their own or get built by their families smaller dwellings near the main one of the parents). And yes, mostly a big "outdoor museum" (not too large but still a sizeable ground area), there's also a small indoor part (right before the outdoor part) with some tribal objects & such but the best of the displays in my opinion being the map of the country with "different regions & the way of life in each of them".

Located not at the city center but just about a 20-minute taxi ride from it, also another good reason to visit this site is for its lovely "souvenirs of Tanzania" in like a big tent right outside the site entrance (a lot more in both variety & number to choose from than the souvenirs also available at the National Museum around the city center).

Good place to enjoy a cocktail and view the ocean and do some local shopping. Some restaurants, bars, beauty spa and jewellers to keep u relaxed and nice escape from the busyness of the city. Easily accessible via an Uber. The Slipway has a Hotel here as well. Clean, well maintained and safe to walk around and enjoy the coastline.

I luckily went with a local as even though I consider myself well travelled this would have been an intense experience on my own.
Just lots of people crammed between stalls selling everything for local people. It’s an experience probably wouldn’t go again.
Advise from my local friend hold on to everything when you’re there as pickpockets are rife. I had no issues but if that’s the advice from the locals - it’s probably good advice

Full fun, water sports and entertainment. My kids 15 year old boy and a 3 year old had so much fun we wanted to go back but our days were finished. Even me who doesn't like water I enjoyed myself. Later it got so crowded but it was worth it, food kind of took longer to be served after an order though.

We arrived after dark in a weekend where area was packed with locals. Our guide scared me to care for my belongings like mobile, camera and wallet. Actually it’s fish and vegetable market. People put their stuff on the street for selling. Mangos is small and hard but sweety. Different kinds of fish and seafood so buy or to eat. Friendly people when you are escorted by guide.

This service connects Dar Es Salaam with Zanzibar

The total travel time is between 1.30 hours to 2.00 hours depending on sea
The ferry service is on time
The ferry is clean and well maintained

For people on visit visa they will not be allowed in Economy seats they need to buy VIP for 60 USD minimum same price as of a flight but the ferry is better as no need to wait at airport for flight .

There will be snacks served in the VIP but not in economy seats

    Value for money

There are some very talented wood carvers here. Carvings of all sizes. I didn't come here to buy, but just to observe and chat with the artists who would talk to me. I didn't bring a camera, but for visitors who want to take pictures, it's okay to photograph the Carvings but maybe not the carvers.
