Our guide was very informative and made sure we understood the many things that have happened in Alton. We plan to return for the bus tour and the mansion tours. - Kathy SWalworth, WI272 contributionsI visited the area on the street because of online reviews. I appreciate the difficulty of restoring a mansion like this. I think a dedicated local board of directors that knows how to fundraise is necessary. On this trip we also visited Carnton in Franklin and it looks like they have this kind of support. Because waiting for ghost activity is like waiting for paint to dry, I think the main focus has to be on history. I have stayed at Hotel Jeffery in Ca, and did have an experience, but I question if someone other than a ghost caused it. They bring in a lot of paranormal group visitors. That might be a good way for this attraction to raise funds. Alton is a scary place!
