My wife is not the most confident driver, and, after reading dozens of reviews of the drive up, she was very nervous about this drive in particular... til she wasn't because it's super duper easy and nothing to worry about at all. We drove up during a clear afternoon, and are so glad we did. Definitely a "peak" experience. :)

Be sure to go all the way to the top, and be sure to bring layers. I am reasonably healthy and have no weight, heart or breathing issues, but I did have to take it slow once we got about 7500 ft or so, as I could definitely feel the thinness of the air with each breath, so be prepared for that as well. Worth it though: it's like being on another planet once you get into the crater proper.

My dad talked about Hawaii & and its people. After he passed, I wanted to visit some places he talked about. It was more than I ever expected. The people are lovely, and the island is spectacular.

This was a fun activity for the whole family. It was really interesting to learn about how pineapples are planted and harvested. The farm is beautiful and the pineapple is amazing!

Fun drive, but be careful around blind curves. Almost got hit. A few places to stop on the way, but not many places to stop and take pictures, narrow 2 lane road, with lots of one way bridges. Stop for Hawaiian donuts and bbq pork.

Sunrise was spectacular and worth getting up so early! It was a once in a lifetime

achievement for me! The crater itself was amazing to see after the sun came up.

Beautiful beach. Big drop-off. Big waves. Not great for kids. Shady places. we sat at the back of the beach in the shade and out of the wind. Very comfortable. Use your GPS for beach access. Family oriented.

Stunning location, outdoor dining with live afternoon music on a Friday. Patti was our great guide and bartender for a wide ranging tasting session (elegant shot glass included). Detailed review of distilling process. Cafe on site and restrooms. Go to cafe especially if you’re celebrating a milestone!

Maui Tropical Plantation was recommended to us as a nice lunch stop on our drive back toward Lahaina from the north side of the island. We are so glad we stopped! The lunch at Cafe Ole was fantastic. The drinks were delicious and the views of the valley and mountains were beautiful. They have a nice gift shop and market and other buildings with crafts, a zip line and plantation tour. We didn't have time to fully explore but will be sure to stop again on our next trip to Maui.

Was really looking forward to seeing the Giant Green turtles. It was truely wonderful. The beach was beautiful, nice bathroom, nice covered picnic area. The lifeguard was interactive with people educating them about the living reef and where they should go to enter the water without damaging. The were alot of signed due to the waves size that can be dangerous for swimmers. Great place to watch the surfers and the kite boarding.

Bamboo forest was the highlight of our trip. Truly mesmerizing. Pay attention to the clattering sound of bamboo. So soothing and meditative. The falls and excellent weather with brilliant blue skies were a bonus

The Banyan Tree Park is home to the largest Banyan Tree in the United States. It provides shade and is a popular meeting place. The regular craft fair and art shows have been suspended. This tree is healthy and well maintained. At sunset the birds fly into the tree to sleep. There is a unique view of the tree from the 2nd floor of the Historic Lahaina courthouse or from Cool Cat Cafe.

Gorgeous! Amazing beach to visit. The hike along the trail was beautiful with the contrasting black lava rock and bright green plants. Even had another beach and blowholes along the trail. Trail to the caves was closed now though.
