- SeashellSCCoastal South Carolina, SC141 contributionsVery nice starting point before visiting the White house. Very strict on items allowed inside the center. Do not bring cigarette lighters. Lighters are strictly forbidden. Metal detectors are at the front entrance. Once inside, a very nice set of exhibits showing all sorts of events during presidential tenures. Nice gift area. This year's White House Christmas ornament salutes Jimmy Carter. It is in the shape of an anchor and has a small insert explaining the design of the ornament. Nice memento.Written 8 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chris WForest Row, UK38 contributionsAs a Brit, I can say that Americans are arguably the best at tours; and our guided tour of the Capitol Building was no exception. It was really well organised and you'd never think our guide was doing the same thing day in, day out. Special shout out to Ashraf Elmemik who 'stars' in the 'plan your visit' video; and who helped us out getting tickets to go in the public gallery of Congress. That was a fascinating experience in its own right.Written 24 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JULIE L LWinston Salem, NC84 contributionsWe were in search of the frequently hidden and obscure public restroom when we came across the welcome center. As with everything in DC security is tight but all we needed to do was to leave a small deposit. We had a package that included two donuts and you would have thought they were bombs. The security guard we encountered was a prime example of someone with a minimum wage job with a minimum IQ given a little authority and they think they are the head of the secret service. After being interrogated we decided I would stay outside with the contraband. After my partner came back out we consumed the contraband and went inside. The inside was just wonderful. I am so glad we accidentally discovered this jewel. It has exhibits about the history of the White House. This was very informative and a good replacement of actually touring the White House. If it hadn't been for the a hole we encountered at the entrance this would have been a 5 star rating.Written 16 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Prawet JWashington DC, DC12,762 contributionsThe Visitor Center can be easily access by buses and Metro (Green and Yellow lines). It is on the second floor of the building right next to Ben's Chili Bowl. There are some information about the history of U street and the historic movement of blacks in Washington D.C. The major attraction of the Center is Ben's Chili gift shop. If you have time and just curious about what is there and want to buy some of Ben's and D.C. souvenirs, stop by while you are in the area.Written 17 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karl GMiami Beach, FL214 contributionsThis is possibly the worst customer service I ever experienced in my life.
We sent full Russisn vida applications with the cash payments and required documents including but not limited to notary invitation letter, employment, global insurance and other similar documents in early May 2024.
For over Six (6) weeks we tried to communicate with the agency but to no avail. The agency works limited hours daily and not everyday. The agency does not have a working telephone and a way to reach a representative. The agency does not answer email communication.
After having my calls & emails unanswered for over 6-weeks, I personally flew to D.C. to Pickup my paperwork, money and visa application incurring travel costs.
When I arrived, I found an office not working and simply serving as a conduit mail system that explains the ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Even the security guard front desk didn’t have an operational working telephone number for the agency.
I finally picked up my unprocessed document package that was literally sitting in the bottom of crate since May.
There are lots of other agencies that provide superior client service and far better results while communicating with the client every step of the way.
We took our vida applications to World Visit Center.
