- Alexis F1 contributionI enjoyed my experience here at the Artechouse! My family and I went on vacation to DC and made this a stop. However, I have two issues that are not a huge deal but figured I'd share. We got there a few minutes early and had to wait. Thinking we'd be allowed in early, did not happen. Also, the cost of the exhibit was a bit pricey. I know DC is expensive as is but the exhibit was very cool and intriguing of other people's art however, I would not pay the price I did.Written 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cycle2eatBaltimore, MD136 contributionsWe visited this musuem during the January 2019 government shutdown-when the Smithsonians were closed and we didn't visit our usual haunts in DC. We were lucky-under other circumstances we would have missed this smaller, lovely museum. There was a wonderful special exhibit "Amazonagramas" by Roberto Huarcaya on the first floor and several permanent collections by 20th century artists on the upper level. We were able to leisurely and thoroughly enjoy the artists and architecture.Written 13 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alyssa C1 contributionThe Opportunity Shop is the jewel of Georgetown! I am a frequent visitor and find it hard to leave without a special item, whether silver, a fashion accessory, art, or jewelry. The inventory is always changing so visit often! Following the shop on Instagram gives you a sneak peek before your visit! @opportunityshopdcWritten 26 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Atterga1 contributionI would have given it a 4 star if the cost were less, but with $110 ticket for two tickets, I think it is way over priced for what you get. It's an 'Ehh"
Leading into the exhibit, you walk a path, read a lot of stuff, then enter a large room where the Van Gogh paintings are projected onto the wall, and floor. It was more like looking at double exposure in photos. Nothing spectacular. The series of paintings on projection took about 30 minutes to rotate, if that long. Nothing to boast about. I would not recommend it to anyone.Written 19 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It houses art made by people from all over the world who are of African decent. The items aRe for sale and proceeds go to support women's industries in impoverished countries.Written 9 June 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChinapjsWashington DC, DC3,611 contributionsFirst of all the building is something of a work of art. And the view of the surrounding area from the exhibit/public area is wonderful. They have a standing exhibit and temporary ones. Right now a Swedish painter photographer has a very interesting exhibit by Swedish artist Karen Broos. The center has lots of events and classes and it's free. Learn something about Sweden at the same time.Written 16 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- KCMLiveWashington DC, DC389 contributionsThe Anacostia Arts Center is a community friendly with a blackbox theater, cafe, and meeting space. I recently visited for a playwright's musical showcase, and was impressed with the beautiful artwork by local artists and bright airy spaces. The shops have awesome local products, books, clothing and jewelry, and the owners are friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is available, but be sure to arrive in plenty of time to drive around to find a space. If you are planning a local arts event I would definitely recommend checking out the Anacostia Arts Center.Written 14 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JNYCwriterNew York City, NY7,456 contributionsThis Club is sandwiched between the White House and George Washington University. It is a private club but open to the public during certain hours. The historic building is worth the visit and you can visit certain rooms that have art hanging on the walls. You can also use the facilities for events. If you enjoy art and a quiet atmosphere this is a very nice venue.Written 6 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Catie W2 contributionsThis is quite the find! After leaving the Philips Collection we wandered down a back alley following a big blue sign pointing towards Hillyer Art Space. On arrival the staff was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They told us about Hillyer and how they support under discovered contemporary artists. The show was great and the space is fantastic. We will be back for a First Friday event!
