What travellers are saying
- I visited this place🇬🇧🇳🇱🇺🇸🇫🇷🇨🇭Israel36,503 contributionsPROS
* Major transportation traffic artery
* Connects modern and ultra sleek glass commercial Roslyn to historic scenic Georgetown
* Famous and scenic at main major location
* For cars and walkers/joggers/runners and even bicycles
* Yes, it’s full name is the Francis Scott Key Bridge, named for the author of our national anthem, and here’s why- his home was at the Georgetown terminus of this bridge.
CONS
* Noisy and not quiet
* Often traffic congestion
* People on the walkway need to cross major traffic thoroughfares to access and egress the bridge
“I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… every day for years from 1978-1981.
Now I returned and drove from northern Virginia into D.C. the area of Roslyn is even more built up.
I remembered that morning in December 1980 when I was stuck in stand still traffic on this very same bridge and listened to the radio and learned that John Lennon had died the night before that.
I was also stuck on that bridge after sundown in January 1982 when I heard about the Air Florida crash.
And then I remembered all the times that Mrs. Place and I always walked across this bridge, and that was before she became Mrs. Place.
So this bridge has history for me.

- ChinapjsWashington DC, DC3,626 contributionsIf you walk across you are rewarded with great sites of some of the most important monuments. Suggest late morning weekdays or early morning weekends. Suggest you cross twice to see both sides of the PotomacWritten 14 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
