My wife and I decided to walk back to the hotel using a different route than normal and were looking for something that caught our eye. I’m glad that we did, because this place was great.
A little context - I am an American, I enjoy Islay Scotch and my wife wants no part of that (she’s missing out).
GoodSpirit looks very approachable from the outside and we could see that there were some people there. We must have arrived right after they opened, so I’m glad that had been putzing around elsewhere otherwise they would not have been open when we walked by.
We were greeted right away and given a great seat by the window. We were also brought water and popcorn without asking, and I loved this for two reasons. First, I feel like water is important when having cocktails and second, who doesn’t love popcorn, something I had not seen once on our trip so far.
I ordered a penicillin and my wife ordered a gin cocktail. They were both delicious. I enjoyed the Ardbeg Wee Beastie in the penicillin and ordered a second more rare Ardbeg that was also fantastic.
Our server (Daniella) was AMAZING. She was friendly, personable and gave our visit a very personal touch not just with her conversation but also her knowledge of the city, of life in Budapest and her own great travel experiences.
We capped the visit off with a visit to the store, where I purchased some Pálinka, which Daniella had introduced me to.
We had planned to stop for a drink. We spent two and a half hours there and the time went by in a blink of an eye. If you are looking for great cocktails and comfortable atmosphere, this place is amazing. Do note, I am not aware if they have food, we did not see a food menu, nor did we ask for one so I can’t comment on that.
