Amazon River Iquitos
#1 of 26 Nature & Parks in Loreto Region
I loved the excursions in the skiff, going up smaller rivers and streams to see the ecosystem up close; at times we got out for short jungle walks to giant lily pad ponds and nature conservancies.
they had been doing this work for a long time and know exactly where to go to see the best of Samiya Placaya National Park. . .

Marasha Natural Reserve Puerto Alegria
#3 of 26 Nature & Parks in Loreto Region
Getting into the reserve in the hiking trail was great, awesome experience if you love nature, trees, and want to take awesome pictures.
The hike to the park area took about 2 hours, but this place is a heaven on earth location once you get there.

On the island, we spent the day playing with the baby monkeys the rescue center were caring for and then going on a nature walking tour of the island seeing the monkeys in the wild.
You can enjoy watching these little friendly creatures in nature. On this island, almost all the monkeys enjoy their freedom (three of them were in cages - as we were explained, they were a bit aggressive).
Tapiche Reserve Iquitos
#5 of 26 Nature & Parks in Loreto Region
The staff of Tapiche Reserve believe in keeping nature "wild as it should be," and work tirelessly to involve the local communities in the preservation of this invaluable jungle resource.
They have sacrificed more time and energy to nature conservation than I can even aspire to, and if that is something you're looking to support, then you've found the perfect outlet.

Skimming along the river past homes, nature, and locals is lovely and the breeze can feel so good on a hot day.
The wonderful people working there obviously love what they do and will patiently show visitors all the park has to offer and tell of the animals' history and particularities.

This is the best place of Iquitos, they rescue many animals in danger (manaties, turtles, parrots, monkeys and more) and then they recover them to let them again in the nature.
It’s easy to get a moto taxi 20mins outside Iquitos and takes around an hour to walk around the park.

Being a wildlife lover, I have traveled over ten times in the Peruvian jungle (including Manu, Tambopata, Bauaja- Sonene and Tingo Maria National Parks, Explorama and Explor Napo Camps and Tahuayo River Lodge) and...
Next time I will bring a friend and go for a full 20 or even 30 days (I guess it’s 32 days to explore the whole park), hats off to the prompt and nice and incredible folks at Huayruro tours.
