- NMurphy101199 contributionsThe garden is, in a word, gorgeous. A wide variety of architecture, flora, and cultural showcasing is here on display, gifted by Sydney's sister city of Guangzhou, China.
The gardens feature a winding path encircling a large lake filled with lotus flowers and koi fish. The latter you can see being fed at 11:30am daily.
There are also so many lizards dotted around, friendly enough to pose for photos. Do you think you've spotted them all? Think again.
Each significant piece has a description on a nearby plaque, and dotted around it are twelve zodiac animals for you to find.
The entry fee, while potential unexpected, is very modest and worth the price of admission.
To one side is a fully functional teahouse and restaurant, with a private function space above it, open for both lunch and dinner seatings.Written 7 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We took a bus from the CBD 173x or you can take 172x to get to Spit Bridge. We picked it up near Wynard and got off right before the bridge. Once you get off the bus there are toilets to empty out before your journey. Walk across the bridge and you will see stairs to get under the bridge that start the path. The walk is lots of up and down stairs with different terrain and mostly inland/bush the first 2/3 of the walk. It did rain the night before so a part of the trail had a lot of standing water that we needed to navigate around. The last 1/3 of trail towards Manly was more coastal and much more traveled. Beautiful walk but I’m glad we started at Spit Bridge first as the more challenging parts of the walk were in the beginning when I was fresh and near Manly was more flat and easier when I was tired.Written 29 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LJ AAustralia6 contributionsI will be honest, I was blessed to 'happen upon' The Jewish Museum when I was doing a walk from Circular Quay to Paddington, more than 17 years ago.
Although I wasn't dressed (in my view) to go into a museum, I checked with a lady working there and after her approval I went in. I was so glad I did and I have lost count on the number of times I have been back.
People may think it is only about the war but it isn't. One would be a fool to think that there isn't that in the journey as it was a monumental time in their lives. However, a large part is an informative walk through Judaism, customs, culture, faith, and basic way of life.
Hands down the most informative and well organised storytelling Museum I have gone to. Even though its size would be considered miniature compared to others in Sydney.
I was very blessed on the day I first went the museum wasn't very busy, I managed to corner a curator and just ask the poor young man question after question. I am sure I kept him for near two hours. I haven't seen him since, I hope I didn't traumatised him with my continual questions.🤣
I have selected the date I did because it doesn't allow me to go back and select ALL the months from 17 years ago that I have visited the Museum.
I never went on a Saturday, knowing it would not be open due to it being their Sabbath.Written 28 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our last visit was for a late breakfast and we loved the croissants and coffees. The service is always excellent. It's worth browsing in the buildings to see what is on offer or simply to admire the cavernous reading room and nearby map room. If you enjoy history, architecture, good books, or a lovely snack or meal, you can't go wrong here.Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ArmaÄźan & HuyHo Chi Minh City, Vietnam9,139 contributionsWe came here by chance while exploring the rabbit warren of alley ways in The Rocks. Situated next door to The Rocks Centre with an entry way in an alley, this is a small but very informative museum of the history of area. It is laid out in a very linear time order and easy for both adults and children to navigate.
It is over two floors with a lift for mobile impaired visitors and it is totally free. So do make the most of your next trip to Circular Quay and the Rocks and visit this little gem of a museum. You will learn a lot.Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Staff on hand to explain the art (as well as placards). Lovely mix of pieces that engaged us throughout our visit. Top it off with a tasty snack of dumplings (get the chicken and lemongrass variety), tea and glass of wine. Highly recommend!Written 4 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AndyJohn74Sydney, Australia6,057 contributionsWandering up to the top of Observatory Hill in the afternoon sees this place quite busy. There was a marriage proposal in the bandstand and many people on the grass watching the sun go down. It’s a lovely place to view over to the north of the harbour.Written 4 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is not signage that explains about any of the plants - so that was a bit disappointing. I saw a few butterflies, but no wildlife. Its just a great cool place to walk through trees with lots of massive stones. Great views of the city.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Parts were being restored but Ted brought the real people & life stories with facts and some mysteries. Thanks Ted!Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- AndyJohn74Sydney, Australia6,057 contributionsThis current heritage trail goes from the north end of Camp Cove Beach up to the lighthouse and back to the same start point. It is a lovely walk passing a number of sites relating to the defence of this port over the last two centuries.Written 11 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
