I just love this building. Beautiful architecture, some nice food choices and lots of great shops. Definitely explore all the different floors and take in the beautiful architecture, and there are a few cafes where you can sit down to check out the people and the building itself. A must do in Sydney!

In 2016, I stumbled upon this gallery and fell in love with the artwork, especially Harvey. I was unable to make the purchase at the time, but I thought about the art for years. I vowed that if I ever got back to Sydney that I would absolutely go back to the gallery and take a beautiful piece home with me; and that is exactly what I did in February 2024, eight years later! In fact, it was the reason I returned to Australia. I adopted Monty the otter! He is so fabulous and stunning. I plan to make another purchase to keep Monty company. I am thrilled! ATTY is a very special place with very special pieces.

I think I went to this market about 20 years ago. It hasn't really changed much. It was a Sunday morning so perhaps not fully operational. Mostly touristy type stalls so if your from outside of Australia great for that. Prices are reasonable. Not much in the way of food so perhaps chinatown for lunch. Very dated. But would be worth a look if you haven't been before.

Browsed the many shops & luxury brands for sale as well as enjoyed a couple of hot chocolates a a small cafe. It was a great place to come & explore when wanting to kill some time. I would like to re-visit as this is the same location as the Sydney Tower.

An amazing array of seafood on display with some amazing prices to match for the high end crab/crays. Very busy place and service took a while, and difficult to find a table and seating to eat, although rear of building is under new construction so should fix this down the track.

A fascinating space and a wonderful insight into the creative world of Brett Whiteley.
This former warehouse was both home and working studio for Whiteley from 1987 - 1992. Left untouched after his death, the upstairs level includes unfinished works, paints, brushes and all sorts of painting tools.
Drips and splashes of paint mark the floorboards and one wall is covered in handwritten quotes and images and scribbled musings. He filled his space with assorted and seemingly random odds and ends that caught his eye and inspired him - shells, seed pods, binoculars, books, a cricket ball. If you have any interest in the artistic process, it’s a must.
Downstairs is more like a conventional gallery and is currently displaying an exhibition ‘Chapters 1959–69’, a collection of his works made between the ages of 20 and 30, a period of intense travel and artistic experimentation. It includes his disturbing Christie works, the London Zoo works as well as paintings from his time in New York and Fiji.
It’s not a big gallery so you probably only need to allow an hour. However the exhibitions change from time to time so it’s worth a repeat visit.
Staff were very helpful. They gave us a brief introduction and were on hand to give more information whenever needed.
The studio is a little out of the way, in a small back street in Surry Hills. We walked from Central Station and it took about 15 minutes. Even when we arrived, we didn’t spot the building immediately because it is an unobtrusive, plain brown colour.
NOTE: Entry is free and there’s no need to book ahead. However it is only open Thursday - Sunday.

Huge mall with some awesome discounted retailers. Getting Levi’s jeans for about $25 is hard to beat. The mall is a confusing layout so that’s one thing to be aware of. No trains service it either, if you’re staying in Sydney CBD you’ll have to catch a bus and walk from the stop up to the shops.

This was a charming abet small market. I thought it would be a lot bigger. Easy to get to on the bus. A variety of booths from clothing to jewelry, to fruits and vegetables and a small but vibrant group of stalls with food to eat. I just thought it would be bigger. I did find a booth with knit clothing and ended up buying two knit dresses and a top and slacks. It was called Matea. The salesperson/designer was delightful and I have already worn two of the pieces. There is an online shop too.

Pitt St is one of the oldest main roads running through Sydney’s CBD. The middle stretch, in the heart of the city, is a paved, pedestrianised mall.
This is really just one big, concentrated shopping area and is dominated by big retail complexes like Myers, Sydney Tower and Westfield. Lots of chain-stores have their flagship shop here.
For something a little bit different, it’s nice to walk through the Victorian-style Strand Arcade. Built in 1891, it has retained its old-world charm and houses more specialised shops and boutiques. Haigh’s Chocolates is always a drawcard here.
Street performers regularly pop up in the mall and there is some limited seating in the centre of the mall, although its a busy area (especially around lunch time), so don’t rely on finding a spare seat.
If you're not interested in shopping, you can skip it altogether.

We had a great time visiting the tram sheds with a group of eight friends. We enjoyed it so much that we went back a second time to try a different restaurant three nights later, and it was equally as much fun. Both the Japanese and Chinese restaurants were excellent and the staff were very competent. Oddly, we didn’t plan to go to Asian restaurants it was just at the other venues were either closed at 5:30 pm, or lacking in energy and life.

A fun place to spend a few hours. Plenty to see and loads of eats. Many people with dogs, some of them snappy and yappy.

One of the many malls found along George Street . A mid size modern mall with a good mix of retail & dining. A decent size COLES supermarket adds to the attraction. Definitely one of the better mid range malls along George Street. Worth a visit

Exterior facade looked very old but surprisingly the interior is very modern. Good varieties of shops/dining & a huge Asian supermarket. Paddy Market is in the basement of this mall.

Australian Opal Cutters has an amazing staff. Everyone is very kind and helpful. The staff is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain the differences in Opal. AOC has a beautiful and big selection of Opals. Definitely worth a visit if in Sydney!
