You were allowed into the stables so you are right up beside the hores and riders. You can see the horses doing their daily exercises. 120 horses in a world class facility. As interesting as Coolmoore stud in Ireland.

Saturday 30th April and we were sightseeing in Jerez and it was our intention to visit the Moorish Fortress, Alcazar on this visit to the City.

On our previous visit back in May 2022 we ran out of time so we just had a quick run around the walls.

On this occasion we had enough time, however, I misread the opening times and thought it closed at 4.30, in fact it was 14.30 opening at 09.30, so missed it once more.

As the entrance gate was open, we were able to stick our heads in and have a quick peek at the impressive buildings with their yellow and orange inside with the massive courtyard.

We did walk around the walls, with large gates and turrets, a bit restricted as part of the gardens, Almeda Vieja, were fenced off for works.

The entrance fee to the Alcazar is €5.

    Harvey's sherry is made here.
Children under 18 are very welcome but they can't drink alcahol.

We enjoyed our visit, which was informative and interesting, explaining the background and process at this relatively new bodegas making only aged sherries. We were the only 2 people booked on this visit but it went ahead so we had a private tour and at the end time alone with a glass of PX as we viewed the art collection which was a real highlight.

Literally just finnished this tour. Cost me 20 euros and I loved it. Lots of great photo oportunities. The group was a typical tour with one guy constantly asking wierd and wonderfully questions. The host was amazing with lots of information on hand.
The tastings were free flowing and plentifull, and asks a question of how much 20% vol. Sherry can a person drink at 15.00 on a hot afternoon.
Very atmospheric with the smell of the old oak barrels in row after row.
Cannot fault this tour ,it certainly is an eye opener to the world of sherry, gift shop at the end selling each bottle tasted.
ITS A MUST WHILST IN JEREZ!!!
GO ON ..GIVE IT A GO.
