#1 of 3 Sights & Landmarks in Siponto
The church(es) stands up in the middle of the archological site: out of date but - surprisingly - contemporary.
The admission to the site is free and the people running the place are friendly and helpful.
#2 of 3 Sights & Landmarks in Siponto
The archeological site consists of the ruins of a 250AD Paleochristian basilica with a semi circular apse and mosaic pavement, plus the partially excavated remains of ancient Sipontium.
A glowing golden stone church from the 11th to 12th century and a wire art installation of the older church next to it make this a unique site to visit.

#1 of 21 Sights & Landmarks in Monte Sant'Angelo
We've lived in and traveled throughout Italy for several years now, and the Santuario di San Michele Arcangelo is one of the most historically interesting and beautiful religious sites we've yet visited.
This shrine is located close to the Castle of Monte Sant'Angelo (worth a quick visit) and other sites in the historic center of this town, including some great panoramic views of the sea afar.

Fab views so super photo opportunity also the drive through the forest was amazing, lovely historic place
It is a wonderful site - and it amazed us how they could build such a structure in this location, given the amount of rock it took to do so.
