What travellers are saying
- Mateusz RysOxford, UK169 contributionsSchonbrunn Palace is a must visit attraction in Vienna. The historic site boasts stunning architecture, beautiful parks and lush gardens. While the entrance isn’t the cheapest, you can easily spend an entire day exploring. The palace offers scenic walking and running paths along with a rich history of Austria. Expect large crowds and long queues so I highly recommend booking in advance.Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mateusz RysOxford, UK169 contributionsVienna during Christmas truly feels like a fairy tale. The whole city is magical with festive lights and numerous markets. It’s the perfect place to soak in the holiday atmosphere while enjoying mulled wine and wandering the streets.
The city is very clean with plenty of museums, coffee shops and art. I did wish for snow while I was there but it was still a beautiful experience. I’m definitely planning to return one day in the summer when the greenery blossoms and the fountains are working.Written 10 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But do they really need to make it so hard to get inside?
Firstly you queue for tickets outside at a shack - is there really no space inside this enormous building to sell tickets sheltered from the wind / rain / snow?
Then there was just one member of staff scanning tickets to allow people into the building - as the other member of staff was off chatting to somebody.
What a shame that so many people are left with a bad taste from what should be an amazing experience.Written 7 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. An evident example of the gothic era, definitely a must see. I would suggest an early visit because the entrance queue gets very long sometimesWritten 16 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - akghosalStoke-on-Trent, UK98 contributionsAlthough there wasn't enough time for me to enter the building when I visited the place last July, the Belvedere Palace is such a beautiful, historic building in Vienna and has beautiful gardens & a pond outside the palace. There is additionally a museum inside the building which is also worth a see if you have time in hand (if I ever visit Vienna again in future, I might try to see the interior of the palace & museum) and both the palace & gardens looked relatively clean & well maintained. Another thing I really liked was that its easily accessible by public transport, being directly beside the buses & trams in the main road which provides good links to Central Vienna and other parts of the city.Written 24 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mateusz RysOxford, UK169 contributionsThe Hofburg Palace boasts impressive architecture and a vast complex to explore. I didn’t have to visit inside, but you could easily spend hours discovering its grandeur.Written 10 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mateusz RysOxford, UK169 contributionsVisiting the Vienna state opera was a magical experience! Even as someone who isn’t an opera fan and had never attended a show before, I truly appreciate the guided tour. It covered the main areas and provided a glimpse into the Vienna opera history.
The interior is elegant and prestigious, making it a must visit for opera lovers and those wanting to explore Vienna’s rich culture. I highly recommend buying tickets only from authorised sellers, as street vendors often charge higher prices.Written 10 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Set on the palace grounds, it’s the world’s oldest continuously operating zoo. If you’re visiting Schonbrunn palace, the zoo is definitely worth checking out too.Written 10 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rob SGold Coast, Australia1,316 contributionsBreathtaking! Awe inspiring! Any lover of books and art will find the Osterreische nationalbibliothek one of the most inspiring locations in Vienna.
It can be difficult to find and, yes, like everything in Vienna, requires paid entry, but it is certainly worth it.Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is so much to see here, it is worth the admission price.Written 16 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laura RGuttenberg, NJ398 contributionsWe went at night for the Christmas market. It was the largest one in Vienna. There was an ice skating track, and it was well decorated. The market had many different stalls, though many were the same items we saw in Germany. There was food, and places to sit and relax. The atmosphere was festive.Written 31 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rob SGold Coast, Australia1,316 contributionsVienna’s heart is magnificent and Steven’s platz is at the centre. Magnificent buildings, easy access, and the obligatory network of shops, restaurants and churches with St Steven’s cathedral.
