Definitely worth a visit! Not only does this museum provide a thorough look into the passing of Austrian military history—it’s also located in a historic building, the hall of heroes. From the golden times of the Austrian & Hungarian kingdom to contemporary armoured vehicles, this place give the visitors a good glimpse and often times the chance for a “hands on” experience. Verdict: do not miss!!!

One of the best things to visit in Vienna.
This place is a real find. Well managed and beautifully presented, you are welcomed with warmth and a genuine love for the film which also gives you an insight into the city’s history.

Of course you’ve seen the film, haven’t you? But did you know that the author Graham Green and British double agent Kim Philby (or “Harry” as he was also known) were friends?

There are lots of fun elements too. Try sticking your fingers through a sewer grate, see a cat and some shadowy figures, watch part of the film on a projector from a genuine 1938 piece of kit, gawp at the gravestone used for the cemetery scene and recreate the marvellous big wheel scene.

Harry Lime isn’t dead, of course…or is he?

So as part of your holiday I recommend visiting a crypt containing dozens of dead bodies - it is superb, surprising and quite different!!!
The crypt lies below a church in the center of Vienna. When you first enter the crypt you think there is not much here but turn a couple of corners and you are faced with an array of ornately decorated coffins containing (almost) every member of the Hapsburg Royal Family none more ornate or ostentatious than that of Maria Theresa and her husband Francis I. The sheer scale of the coffins and detail are amazing. It is a complete shock to us to see this but this is really quite special. The only thing we have seen to compare with this are the coffins of Sultans laid out in some Turkish religious buildings.
Quite creepy but absolutely magnificent - must see this!!!

I was stunned by it. Art Nouveau at its best but just felt beneath its purpose in spite of its beauty. On a big empty campus of a closed psychiatric centre. It felt hard to get to even though we were on a chartered bus.

This place was fantastic. Was there at opening and had it to myself for a while. The carriages and the clothing are amazing and fascinating. The horse items and history on them were also very interesting. I highly recommend going here.

Annekirsche is one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in the city of Vienna. It is just a few minutes' walk from the Vienna State Opera, and also St. Stephen's. The rich, varied colors of marble are splendid to behold. Although it's not a very large church, its artistry is simply magnificent. Among the most notable art works inside are the inspiring ceiling, and the scene depicted directly behind and above the altar. There is also a very life-like statue of St. Anthony of Padua, and it's among the finest renderings of him that I have ever seen. The "cameo" of St. Francis de Sales, and the copy of the great Pompeo Batoni's "Sacred Heart" are also wonderfully done. And the bells, oh, how beautiful are the church bells! I hope you are blessed with the opportunity to visit because the sacred art here really lifts our hearts and minds to the reality of the glory of God. Thank you, and may God bless you in your travels.

Fascinating museum with a lot of care given to explaining the craft. Clear display, easy to follow. I wish the MAK would take lessons from these curators. (Only negative is too much attention given to the Sisi movies.)

For something different to do on a Saturday morning i found out about the Vienna public transport museum (Remise Verkehrsmuseum) Im not sure the opening hours during summer, during early May it was only Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, it is only 20 minutes by tram18 from the main station with a few minute walk around the corner to get there.
The museum is housed in the old tram sheds and other than the cobble stone main entrance the layout is also quite access friendly, there are toilets and a cloakroom for jackets etc with a small ticket office and gift shop, tickets can also be bought online and at other Wiener Linien ticket offices.
The collection dates back from the first horse drawn trams up to the modern units in use today as well as some of the buses that have served Vienna, there are audio handsets that guide you around not only the history of the city's transport but of the rise of the city as a whole.
Cost for entry is 10 Euro for and adult but there is group and other tickets, the Wiener Linien website has details of costs and how to get there and other useful infomation.
Overall I liked the museum and had a good couple of hours wandering around and would recommend a visit if you have a few hours

Interesting display of artworks, jewels and other fine objects for sale. This auction house is worth going to and is conveniently located in the historic center. The building in itself is well maintained and elegant.

We enjoyed seeing how the world changed over the centuries. Nice variety of sizes and styles. Lighting was a bit inadequate; assume to protect the globes. Could use more english descriptions. Don't need more than an hour to see it all.
