- GiorgiaSarahHorsham, UK29 contributionsA magical place - I couldn't recommend going in the lead up to Christmas enough. Yes, everything is a little pricey but that is to be expected. For food, I would recommend Andy's arancini and the funnel cakes .. incredible! The ferris wheel is lovely and offers a great view of the market. Ice skating Is great fun. Would 100% recommend!Written 8 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Brian CLanark, UK368 contributionsThe best Christmas Market in Vienna. Set out differently to the others as it is set within a series of narrow lanes. The atmosphere was excellent, as was the selection of stalls, including the food and drink.Written 24 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JohnMarchantEastbourne, UK5 contributionsAfter my initial troubles with the booking, which were eventually properly resolved, I'm glad to say the actual occasion delivered a very special and enjoyable evening. The venue is simply stunning and the musical entertainment fitting for such a place, creating a beautiful atmosphere. The dinner was surprisingly high quality for a large event and there was no shortage of decent wine included (in fact we drank a bit too much!).
My only (very slight) negative is that the food service ran a fair bit behind schedule, so that the last course or two converged with the main show and dancing. As many of the diners broke off to enjoy the entertainment, the food service got a bit forgotten by the staff and came a bit late to be properly appreciated. Nevertheless, this is only a small point and did not spoil our evening at all.
We were seated in the balcony, which I would recommend as a great vantage point with the added bonus of being more private (we got our own table) and less expensive than the main hall. It does feel a little bit detached from the main throng, however this suited us as avid people watchers and you are free to go downstairs to join in the dancing anytime if you wish. We, along with some other couples, enjoyed dancing up on the balcony where there is ample space to enjoy.
Overall then, a wonderful experience if you want to dress up and feel like a VIP for a special occasion. Not cheap, but worth the money for a treat.Written 3 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great at night with the lights around the church.Written 14 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stephannayBrisbane, Australia14 contributionsThe outside set up for New Years was great! You could walk around the City Centre with a drink in your hand. There was live music and DJ's playing and the pop up stands were serving great ranges of alcoholic beverages. However, when it came to the fireworks we were a bit dissapointed. The internet said to gather around the Centre infront of the cathedral but the firework displays were actually on the opposite sides of the city. Apart from that we still had a great time and this city is just beautiful :)Written 1 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tayyaba FLahore, Pakistan443 contributionsWe found about this festival from our driver in Hop on Hop off bus. It was huge and great festival in Rathausplatz full of vendors from good restaurants and cafes and amazing drinks. Went there twice for lunch and dinner. Enjoyed our dinner from different vendors.Written 24 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Neil KLiverpool, UK8,29,080 contributionsHeld twice a year ,Vienna Craft Beer Festival is a must go destination if you've an interest in craft beers ,one of the top highlights of our recent holiday to Vienna on the run up to the Christmas time in a week that had many fine highlights.
Held in Marx Halle along Karle Farkas Gasse ,an impressive venue for such a great festival ,held twice a year ,it attracts beer lovers ,it cost us €15 admission ,cool looking glasses were free ,lots of great local breweries represented ,to pay for beers you purchase beer tokens ,we initially purchased €30 of beer tokens each ,1 token is €1 ,with well over 50 beer stands plus fast food stands you're spoilt for choice ,we tried many beers here which were amazing ,brewers who run each stall offer free samples so it's best to pace yourself ,loved our time here ,it was packed ,we stayed here for many hours ,had an unbelievable time sampling some of the best beers I've ever tasted in Vienna ,if you find yourself in Vienna in late November I highly recommend you check out this beer festival ,we were here on the 18th of November ,check websites for 2023 festival dates .

An absolutely amazing Christmas market built around the famous Ferris wheel ,lots of great stalls beautifully decked out for the festive period ,Christmas music playing and very busy indeed when we visited on a freezing cold night .
We enjoyed warming mugs of gluhwein ,€4.50c for the gluhwein plus €4 for the Christmas mug ,you receive your €4 back on you're mug when you return it but I tend to keep mine as a reminder of each particular Christmas market I visit which is why I will be coming back to my home town of Liverpool with 15 Christmas mugs from Vienna and this is an indication of how many great Chrismas markets there are in this most beautiful of city's.
Gluhwein was really good ,we had a few each ,my twin and I also enjoyed some great snacks here ,we had raclette ( bread and warm cheese ) and also bauerngostl ( eggs, bacon and potato fried up ) which were absolutely amazing and so tasty ,we also had some great beers in the market which were really good ,we stayed here for a good few hours before we moved on ,had a wonderful time in a wonderful Christmas market ,if you're planning a holiday to Vienna over the Christmas period it's a Christmas market I highly recommend you seek out ,it's easy to located in Prater Park, the world famous park and amusement park.Written 28 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
