In town for the Christmas markets, I'd bookmarked this and we checked it out after visiting the Schonbrunn Palace market since we were already in that part of town. It is still a decent walk from the train station but we refueled with schnitzel, fried Emmental and the excellent seasonal beer. There is a nonsmoking section, however we sat in the smoking section (and it lives up to the title.) While Ottakringer is dear to our hearts (and so worth the pilgrimage to the brewery), it is widely available everywhere. Still worth a visit or 3 (we kept going back for more merchandise! - Neil KLiverpool, UK8,24,345 contributionsMy twin brother Stephen and I were in Vienna for the run up to Christmas enjoying the many Christmas markets in this city and visiting the great pubs in this city ,we also make sure we pay visits to the great beer bottle outlets in the city to purchase and bring back craft beers local to the city to our home city of Liverpool ,one of our favourite craft beer outlets is Beerlovers ,Muttermilch ( Mutter Milch ,Vienna Brewery ) which has a wonderful selection of beers to go plus it brews a great range of beers .

The brewery looks cool ,we were allowed into the brewery as when we were talking to the staff upstairs in Beerlovers which is above brewery about the bottled beers on offer we planned to buy they mentioned that the Muttermilch Vienna Brewery were celebrating their 5th year in brewing and were holding a free tour ,we were introduced to Karl ,the head brewer who spoke impeccable English ,we were led down to the brewery where we were shown the brewing and distilling equipment and given a crash course in brewing and brewing styles in Vienna ,sampled amazing beers and schnappes ,as our tour progressed more people appeared and the atmosphere was exceptional ,I must say the beers we sampled were out of this world ,so many great beers plus the wonderful aged schnappes ,it was a totally unexpected tour and sampling session ,one of the many great highlights of out six days in this most beautiful of city's and the head brewer Karl was an exceptional host ,generous samples of beers and talking very knowledgeably about the various beer styles we were enjoying.
We stayed here for hours ,had a wonderful time ,loved every minute of our time in here .
Muttermilch Vienna Brewery is easy to locate along Gumpendorfer Straße.
