It is worth visiting for the variety of different eating and drinking establishments and all the fresh produce.
The only downside was getting the hard sell from one of the nut sellers.
20 euros for a bag of nuts!

We caught the underground out to the Palace. It was approximately a 550 metre walk from the station to the Palace entrance. The Palace Christmas markets were free however the Winter Wonderland display in the gardens cost EUR15 each.

The markets were a lot smaller than those at the Rathausplatz though we thought of a similar size to those in Marie-Theresien-platz. The craft stalls sold much of the same products that we had seen in other Christmas markets and the food and beverages were also quite similar. What stood out in these markets though was the fantastic backdrop of the Palace with lights highlighting its lovely facade. The bicycle powered children's merry-go-round was also quite quaint.

We saw a number of people moving towards an area at the side of the Palace and, as we followed to see what was there, noticed all of the lights for the Winter Wonderland display. This display was quite excellent with a range of different animals (e.g. Reindeer, squirrels etc), objects (e.g. piano and musical notes) and people being highlighted and outlined in different coloured lights. Worth the entrance fee.

As a newcomer to Vienna, I’m excited to have this nearby although the products weren’t necessarily that much more exciting or cheaper than what I can find at a local grocer. Still a nice outing with interesting food stalls

Wonderful shop! My friend and I were in town visiting from New York and looking to do some vintage shopping in Vienna. Out of all of the places we went to, Marcy Vintage was our favorite stop – amazing selection and great prices! Owners were very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommend!

As our apartment was overlooking this well-supplied market, we visited it a couple of times. The market is named after the big church of Saint Roch, dedicated to a XIV. century French Christian saint.

There was an excellent choice of quality bakery products, always fresh and tasty. The quality of the vegetables and fruit was also superb, but the prices were higher than in the nearby Billa supermarket where we could also choose from the goods on the shelves.

No tourists, no bargaining, just real value und high Quality! Give it a try, starting in early morning with a turkish coffee, then a bun with HORSE liver loaf and finishing the experience with Shopping for meat and vegetable!

    Have a nice day!

This is one of 8 Christkindlmarkts we’ve seen while in Vienna. It sits right in front of St Charles Church. Although smaller than some others, it does have more handmade craft like glassware, ceramics, ornaments, knitted items, soaps and chocolates. It has one of a kind crafts that you will not see at other markets. After walking through all the markets, you start seeing some of the same items that everyone sells. This market also has a small carousel and a hay area for kids to run around. When we were there early evening midweek, it started to get crowded at like 5p as many locals stopped by to meet up for drinks after work. The food and options were fine for a smaller market.

Christmas Market Altes AKH is an excellent Christmas Market on Alser Straße and was one of the Christmas Markets we visited on a six day trip to Vienna.
Located in a brilliant area of Vienna where there are many pubs and bars'this brilliant Christmas Market has every-thing that you would expect from a Christmas Market.
With many stall's with traditional Christmas Market decorations and light features and brilliant food and drink stalls'it's a magical place to visit for a few of cup's of Glühwein or a tasty festive snack.
We visited twice'once in the afternoon and once in the evening and both times we had Glühwein and Christmas snacks that where fantastic and price wise on par with all the other Christmas Market's we visited.
A superb Christmas Market thats in a great area of Vienna and easy to get to from the tram Lange Gasse tram stop it's a minute's walk.

I love the Christmas markets in Vienna ,have been so many times over the years ,this one held in Schonbrunn Palace is one of my favourites .
The setting is amazing ,the palace building is stunning ,the Christmas market is not massive but beautifully laid out ,lots of stalls all beautifully decked out for the Christmas season ,a fantastic looking Christmas tree and very popular ,my twin brother Stephen and I are currently in Vienna and we visited this Christmas market the day it opened on the 19th of November ,crowds were big ,we enjoyed glasses of gluhwein here served in a beautiful glass ,gluhwein was €4.50c and glass was €4 ,you receive your money back on glass when you hand it back ,I never do ,I always keep the gluhwein glass at each Christmas market I visit ,a nice reminder of the market ,we wandered around the Christmas market ,atmosphere was really good ,very festive ,it even started to snow which was superb ,added to the festive vibe .
We really enjoyed our visit to this Christmas market before we moved on and as on previous visits to here we had a great time .
Kultur Und Weihnachtsmarkt schloss Schonbrunn is easy to locate in the grounds of Schonbrunn Palace and is a must go destination if you're in Vienna over the Christmas period.
