What travellers are saying
- Olaf Johansen34 contributionsThe Schönbrunn Palace is stunning, and the gardens are perfect for photography, especially with the winter lights. Don't miss the inside tour.Written 10 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hendrien75 contributionsSo, comfy walking shoes, warm coat, hat and scarf and off we went.
The Architecture is amazing.
If you have seen Gladiator, you’ll have heard Maximus say about going to Vinabona….
Vienna grew from the Roman settlement known as Vindobona to be an important trading site in the 11th century. It became the capital of the Babenberg dynasty and subsequently of the Austrian Habsburgs, under whom it became one of Europe's cultural hubs.
There are Roman statues on nearly all the roof of every building even chariots. Very impressive and the buildings are just gorgeous.
We walked 18 km in a day and seen some pretty amazing sights.
Walking tours are fine, but going at it on your own brings you down lanes you would normally not see.
Have fun and get a foot massage after 😉Written 10 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The interior is beautiful, architecturally and artistically eye-catching
The museum contains major works of art from Dürer, Raphael, Titian and Velázquez as well as the world's largest collection of Bruegel paintings. I guess Vienna is a big fan of his work.
The Kunstkammer Vienna contained works of art collected by the various members of the Habsburg dynasty from the 16th century onwards.
There is SO much to see and you can easily spend a few days (or a week or two) in here.
Even if art isn't your jam, this is a museum you shouldn't miss!Written 5 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was very busy with the Christmas Markets just starting but it is a must to seeWritten 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - goldfinchUKLondon, UK86 contributionsOutstanding art collection. The Klimts are superb and there are others apart from The Kiss. Well worth going around all the galleries if you visit. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Vienna. In spring and summer the gardens would be beautiful but we had the compensation of the Christmas market with the illuminated facade of the Palace as a backdrop. It does get busy from time to time but it is easy to move to another area until space opens up in the most popular rooms. Probably better to book a time slot to avoid queueing on entry.Written 3 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
