What travellers are saying
- sallygamble1Wokingham, UK160 contributionsVery cool town to visit and see the buildings 50 years one. Nice to have a wander around and see all the buildings. Theres a cafe if the middle that sells cool drinks as well which is great on a hot day! Do wish there were signs with info, otherwise maybe go for a guide/tour if you want to know the history.Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sallygamble1Wokingham, UK160 contributionsSuch a great place to visit, definitely recommend! There’s a short route and a long route (attach pic with map), my family and I went for the long route. Do bring a hat and water if going fir the long one on a hot day. There is also a cafe near the exit where you can get some nice cool drinks/freshly squeezed orange and pomegranate juice post walk. Took us overall about an hour to do the long route.
Theres clearly more of the city to be dug up and unearthed but still great to see whats there.
Also if you happen to be going to Nicosia and go to the Cyprus Museum you can see more of the items they found there!Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeremy CHinckley, UK1,120 contributionsIf you are in N. Cyprus you really must visit Famagusta and its very beautiful walled city, wander the old buildings and ruins and soak up the history. There are good restaurants for the tired and hungry and some open markets for those in need of retail therapy. well worth the trip.Written 9 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael BNewcastle upon Tyne, UK14 contributionsIf you like a bit of history this is the place to go. Lots to see here aswell as Famagusta. We hired a scooter to get round Varosha for £10 definelty worth it as lots to see & at midday would have been a slog.Written 18 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeremy CHinckley, UK1,120 contributionsThis is an absolutely stunning part of Cyprus and well worth a visit. I would suggest you hire a little jeep: we had a Suzuki Ventura which is good for the roads and somehow adds fun to the trip. Drive gently, stop often, feed the donkeys (they are endearingly friendly), look in the churches, walk on the sand, swim in the sea and just take in the moment.Written 3 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Under British rule it became a grain store an is now used for arts and crafts.Written 9 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
