What travellers are saying
- 422ianaDunedin, New Zealand3,608 contributionsAlthough the town itself is really nice, my eyes were drawn away to the hills and wanted to get back down the valley to the castle on the border. Hired a car for the day to visit Lichtenstein.Written 13 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Georgina GMilton Keynes, UK86 contributionsA very interesting museum in Liechtenstein. I really enjoyed the new temporary exhibition about art in prison in particular, the art was stunning. Lots to see in the museum and something for all ages. The only reason I have given it 4/5 stars, is that all of the signs were in German. It might be nice to have an audioguide or something so other people are able to understand what the exhibits are. Very friendly and welcoming staffWritten 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- carpediemejcGainesville, FL171 contributionsMy husband and I were lucky enough to get a fabulous, clear day in February to see this place. I had read that the hike up the hill to the castle was a 20 or 30-minute steep hike. I am not in good shape, so I had to rest a lot. It took me 30 minutes to hike up the very, very steep hill. It was worth it! The views of the Alps and the castle make the most astonishing pictures! The Prince still lives in the castle, therefore, you cannot go inside. But, there are informational signs on the way up the hill that tell you about the country, the government, the royal family and more. It was excellent.Written 8 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julia GSheffield, UK478 contributionsI’m scared of heights so this was a real accomplishment. I bought the ‘Liechtenstein passport’ which meant the transport on the bus was included and the bus route to get there was really simple. Straight from Vaduz centre and only took about half an hour. BEAUTIFUL scenery when travelling to Malbum on the bus.
I didn’t need to book tickets, just showed the passport and they gave me a ticket there at the booth.
It was only about 10 minutes but it’s a round trip both up and down.
You can stop at the top and get off to enjoy the views and there’s a little cafe.
The views are stunning and you feel secure going up. It’s well built and not raggedy do you feel safe.Written 24 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The vineyard is beautiful and the wine was delicious! Thank you to Sylvia for being such a great host - she was friendly and funny and I learned a lot from her about all the different types of wine. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,427 contributionsBoth Liechtenstein and Vaduz are small; this entry seems to basically cover the main downtown area. There aren't a lot of tourist attractions, but we enjoyed strolling through on a sunny afternoon, seeing the town hall and visiting the nearby cathedral.Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,427 contributionsWe enjoyed an afternoon walking around through Vaduz and seeing the scenery. As part of it, we walked to the Rhine and then to and across this old wooden bridge. It's not a lot to look at, but it made for a nice walk, and my kids enjoyed the chance to be in a different country (Switzerland) on the far side, as well as to take photos in both of them (there's a fun sign at the midway point showing the two countries).Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,427 contributionsThis museum was free to enter, and we enjoyed spending about half an hour looking around inside. It had information about the history of postage stamps in the Liechtenstein area, including their agreements with Switzerland and Austria. Someone with a true interest in stamps would probably get more out of it, but we enjoyed poking around, looking at the displays, and doing a block puzzle that was available.
You can get tickets for the next-door treasury here, which we did. I believe they were 8 francs for an adult.Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a small cafe at the foot of the climb, it serves coffee, beer and gelatos. Along the path is a tiny patch vineyard, carved into the steep slopes.Written 2 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SnowyShastaPortland, OR2,427 contributionsThis cathedral is not large, but it's in a great setting below the mountains. We enjoyed walking around the outside and admiring the scenery. It is also free to enter, and we enjoyed stepping inside to look around a little. I thought the interior was nice, without too many contrasting colors, and pretty organ pipes in the rear.Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
