- Renate W1 contributionWe really had a fantastic day at the reindeer farm. After a warm welcome from Katja, we went to feed the reindeer in a sleigh. Awesome! What beautiful sweet creatures. But it's also nice to hear that reindeer roam freely through the forests all summer long. After feeding, a delicious lunch with reindeer meat, homemade by Katja. Then a nice sleigh ride. And then end with, again homemade, delicious cake and drinks around a campfire. Everything taken care of down to the last detail. More than worth a visit to this family business! Pretty nice stop in a fireplace where we had a saucisse with Finnish bred and we baked our own cinnamon roll on the fire! Our guide Jenni was amazing and she told us a lot about Lapland and the region. The whole experience was amazing from the pick up from the hotel till a beautiful Huskies farm and experience to drive Huskies itself. We felt taken care of, received a special warm clothes, learned a lot about Huskies and experience to drive them and be close to them. We could not ask for more and will definitely recommend this activity to all friends and other families as it was a highlight during our stay in Lapland! The visit was very educational and interesting, we absolutely loved the free time with reindeers in the forest and the possibility to feed them. It was a highlight of our vacation in Lapland, absolute must see! We learnt a lot about the life of reindeers, but also about the life in Lapland in general from our guide Adrian. We highly recommend the visit to this farm, it was a great and increadible experience for us. Essi and Markku are the perfect hosts and look after your every need from waking you up to see the Northern Lights, to arranging for specific dietary requests, to booking fun activities nearby.

Once we arrived we got a private tour of the family owned reindeer farm and learned a lot about reindeers and all the work that goes into having a reindeer farm! We even got to pet a reindeer! - Karin S4 contributionsThe day with Kimmo was the first full day Janik and I spent in the region of Rovaniemi. It was labeled “Winter Survival Tour” and a good starting point as we were supposed to spend two days hiking, snowshoeing, and ice-fishing on our own during our week there– one can never know, what will happen 😉.
Kimmo loves nature and teaching so the best combination for such a day and it was great. Janik and I enjoyed it a lot. I even achieved one of my biggest goals, which was making fire from scratch with basic tools! The ice-fishing is very meditative especially when the fish don’t play along so that there is no action. Fortunately, Kimmo was prepared for such a turn of events, and we had a gorgeous lunch anyway – simple but really good.
We have to come back as we didn’t build the shelter, which was not required due to the great weather. So, we decided to enjoy the time snowshoeing and explore the surrounding area further under perfect conditions.

She is a great guide with a lot of knowledge of the outdoors and a great personality. We had a beautiful hike to a frozen lake where she made us a fire and we had a bit to eat and drink.
