Caritasbrønden (Caritas Well) is located on Gammeltorv and is the oldest fountain in Copenhagen, built in 1608. You can’t miss it as you stroll along the Strøget. It is located on Gammeltorv (Old Market) that is part of the Strøget pedestrian zone.
On the monarch's birthday (currently 16 April for Queen Margrethe II), copper balls covered in 24-carat gold, symbolizing golden apples, are placed in the fountain.
