A fabulous boat ride can take you out to Gidaki serviced beach. Car hire not essential but a shame not to explore this beautiful island.
Beware of very fast cars and motorbikes speeding - yes I mean speeding - along the main seafront restaurant road. How the local authorities allow this I don’t understand? Even the waiters take their lives into their own hands crossing the road with food. The church is impressive for its stained glass and gold ornaments and is still used for special services. - Linda CLudlow, UK65 contributionsA festival is held each year at Polis Bay on the Sunday nearest the 1st October. A priest blesses the local fishing boats, and then there is lots food and local wine.
It is great fun but gets very busy and parking is difficult. Lots of locals gather to celebrate as it marks the end of the tourist season. Visitors are made very welcome too.

The beach bar is fantastic, great food, music and friendly service. The beach itself is one of the best on Ithaca. You can drive there, a few minutes going by safe stairs then.
Water is more refreshing due to stream and wind, but it is the cleanest beach too.
Calm in the morning, while getting windy afternoon.
Quite deep waters, so do not leave kids without attention even a second.

Very quite beach, lovely safe swim, couple of yachts in bay, less that 10 people on beach.
