What travellers are saying
- martin LSheffield, UK29 contributionsI stayed in an Airbnb in Naxos town, took the bus to Plaka beach which only took 20 minutes. The south end of the beach was quiet. The beach is very clean, it has fine golden sand, crystal clear turquoise water, the sea is relatively less choppy than town beach. Nice beach to spend the afternoon.Written 18 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TorontoLadybugToronto, Canada438 contributionsThis beach was a 10/10 for me. Beautiful beach with lots of beach bars to rent beds at reasonable prices. Plenty of restaurants and shops within steps. The water was gorgeous and clear and the beach was clean and safe. Great location!!Written 1 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - martin LSheffield, UK29 contributionsIconic symbol of Naxos. It comes into view as the ferry arrives into port. To reach it, you have to walk on a footpath leading to the temple with the sea on both sides. Beware of sea sprays on a windy day! It was not crowded the days I went, a magical experience at sunset.Written 18 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - paninimomMill Valley, CA246 contributionsQuaint Port Town, has historic sites to visit, shops, and eateries. Lots of steps, inclines, winding narrow pathways. Beautiful to stroll through.Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dreamer35240781067Athens, Greece14 contributionsExcellent beach but when there is a breeze the air becomes tiring. A few trees at the back of the beach for shade, a tavern, a beach bar. Perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with white sand and emerald waters.Written 18 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CativaLong Beach, NY143 contributionsEasy compact beach with lots of restaurants. Try Palátia! Went twice for delicious fresh fish, home marinated white anchovies, awesome shrimp souvlaki, sardines, grilled fish and more! Served at tables on the sand or loungers by fabulous Orestes! Must visit!Written 3 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TBManchester, UK23 contributionsThe beach itself is beautiful. It’s very long, but doesn’t feel too crowded. Although we didn’t go to any there are plenty of bars/restaurants in the vicinity, as well as toilet and washing facilities.
Unfortunately, most of the beach is taken up by sun loungers, which were extortionately priced (at time of visit, 50€ a day for 2 beds and an umbrella). This is far more expensive than beaches on other islands. As such, we led on beach towels on the ground.Written 8 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The women that run the store are amazing- super friendly and very inviting. They also offer tours of how olive oil was made back in the day as well as offer a variety of samples. I was really impressed that they did the tours in so many languages- other than English and Greek, I’m pretty sure I also heard them speak French and German. I’m not usually the biggest ice cream fan, but when my husband wanted to try the olive oil ice cream, I had to try a bite. And then another and another…. It was so good (not overly sweet, very well balanced) that when we were driving around the next day, I had to make another stop to get it. Well that and the delicious olive oil cake. They have great outdoor area to sit and enjoy all their offerings as well. Highly recommend!Written 7 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Blair A1 contributionOur favorite spot on all of Naxos. We just loved the work and the husband and wife that are artists and gallery owners. We have two prints and a vase from our visit that we will treasure. They capture what we love about the ocean so perfectly and are also a very happy memory of our trip to Greece. Highly recommend visiting the gallery.Written 4 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- eagertraveller123UK1,358 contributionsVery nice Venetian style castle, worth the climb (also a lovely set of churches of various denominations and little meandering streets and archways surround it).Written 10 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - louisa g8 contributionsNice hike. We did the “easy” route. Caught the filoti bus at 9.30 from the bus terminal in Naxos town by the ferry terminal. We asked the driver to drop us off at the marina chapel which is beyond the filoti town - the road forks and we had a short walk up a tarmac road to the chapel. The sign said 55 min to summit. It took us 1.5 hours. Follow the red dots and the stone cairns all the way to the summit. It is marked and mix of gravel and clambering over rocks. You need sturdy ankle supporting boots or trainers. We got back down and walked into filoti with a beer under the town centre tree where the bus back returns from. Again, follow the red dots. The last bus in may is 4.30. We got there around 2.30 after a very slow amble and watched other climbers come into the town for beers and lunch.Written 20 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shrey MBengaluru, India28 contributionsFascinating and beautiful. Cedar trees (or shrubs rather, almost) amongst white sand dunes make up for a unique landscape in the area. As an added bonus, the beautiful Alyko beach is nearby, perfect for swimming or taking a nap under one of the trees. Only downside being all the cars around, they should prevent cars being parked right next to the beach and preserve this precious resource better.Written 17 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
