It is best to start the hike through Imbros Gorge at the northern entrance. If you come with your own car from the north, you can drive past the first restaurants with parking lots and "Imbros-Entrance" signs and park about 1Km further down the road at the restaurant Porofarago. From here you‘ll start your hike directly at the ticket booth if the gorge.
The path is not particularly difficult, but due to the uneven ground and boulders, sturdy shoes are required.
At the narrowest point between the steep walls, the gorge is only a good 2m wide, which looks quite spectacular.
The entire path to the lower exit is about 7.5km long. From here you can take a cab back (pre-order). Since the terrain doesn't change much during the last 2km, we turned around after 5.5km and walked back uphill through the gorge. In this direction, many things look different, so that both ways are worthwhile.
We were there in mid-May and it was not too crowded.
