    Best Tour yet

    DELIGHTFUL Unique Food & Sightseeing TOUR! BOOK THIS TOUR! 👍👍👍
    Book this tour because you will love it and the people!

    Diogo is a wonderful tour guide with the most friendly and kind manner! We really enjoyed the entire day with Diogo, his Rita, and happy little dog Musa! And we also greatly enjoyed meeting the other guests, a delightful family with Olena & Mike, and their young sweet son, little Mike. Mike, the husband, surprised every one of us with the gift of a coffee at our 1st stop! (except Musa, of course!)

    The places Diogo drove us to were very beautiful areas in Sintra, Mafra, and Ericeira. The views along the way between destinations were also very beautiful. We were delighted and never wouldld have seen such places on our own!

    We especially enjoyed the countryside picnic in a most picturesque little village. The delightful picnic was a joint effort between Diogo and Rita with homade bread, cheeses, home cured olives, pumpkin jam, sautéed mushrooms and sausage, wine and homemade cherry liquer1! It was the best!

    Then we went to Ericeira by the coast. Awesome views and a quick stop to pick up special Nata pastries for each of us! DELICIOUS and the BEST, crispiest, and not-too-sweet Nata we've tasted, even though others have said the best are in Lisbon!

    All along the way Diogo had us listening to a nice music mix he played and offered to send to us. This enhanced the easy going, relaxed tour.

    We highly recommend this tour! We were a little concerned the weather would be raining/cold, but the day turned out to be warm enough and the VERY BEST!

    Great attention to detail
    Our guide Miguel was simply outstanding. He provided a lot of interesting details about each site we visited plus so much more. He is truly amazing. We’ve gone on many tours before and felt rushed but not with Miguel. He’s a safe driver and in the highest league of tour guides.

    Excellent wine tour
    Jose was favorite part of the trip! We also enjoyed the wine, the scenery, even driving through the city and seeing some extraordinary graffiti.

    Stunning palace, just don’t take the 434 bus to it.
    Stunning Palace and well worth the visit. This was on our ‘must see’ list on our recent trip to Lisbon. We took the train from Lisbon to Sintra and knew we needed to take the no 434 bus to the palace next which there were plenty of lined up outside the train station. However what we didn’t know was that the 434 bus was a hop on hop off bus that was going to cost us nearly €60 for our family of 5(€11.50) per person! We didn’t have time to do a hop on hop off tour, we just wanted to go to Pena Palace and were told there were no other public bus options to the palace. There were tuk tuks and other independent operators all touting for business but with similar prices. We knew the palace wasn’t that far away but not really accessible by foot. I put the palace into Google maps and the option of a Freenow taxi came up with a total price of €12 for an XL taxi to take the 5 of us up to the palace. So I hit book and within less than 5 min we were on our way.

    I had pre booked our tickets, park entrance only(€7pp for entrance and €3pp for bus straight to top) with transport so when we were dropped off by our taxi at the entrance we didn’t have to queue for tickets. The grounds and staff were all lovely and very pleasant. We took the little bus which brought us right up to the palace, approx 2km of a walk either through lovely grounds. When we got off the bus there was a huge queue heading into the palace and we weren’t sure what the queue was for as there were no signs and everyone seemed to be in it so we joined it. After queueing for a couple of minutes we noticed the sign for the cafeteria/toilets so I nipped in there and up 3 flights of stairs to the cafeteria and noticed signs for the terraces and that we could just wander around wherever we liked so I figured then that the massive queue was for inside the palace which we weren’t doing and set off exploring the palace. It really is a stunning palace and the park entrance gives you more than enough access to it and no need to spend ages in the queue!

    We really enjoyed it and when we were done booked another freenow taxi which took us all to Caiscais for the afternoon for €23 with less than a 1min wait.

    Very overrated and we thought not worth it
    The outside of the palace is an odd and mildly interesting mix of several architectural styles. The inside is mostly very ho-hum furnishings that are not very interesting. We thought not worth the effort of getting there and moving slowly through the house in a crowd. I recommend looking careful at some photos of the interior before you decide if it's worth the trip there.

    Amazing Tour!
    We had a wonderful day seeing Peña Palace, Sintra, the coast and also a winery for some wine tasting! We also stopped for some wonderful pastries and coffee. José was very energetic, knowledgeable and most of all fun! The private tour was so nice - we didn’t miss anything like you can during a big group tour or going it on your own. The booking was easy, the vehicle nice and comfortable - we highly recommend a tour (or two!) with Lisbon on Wheels!

    Day tour of Sintra
    We booked the day trip to Sintra with a stop at a wine vineyard. Our guide, Luis, was very knowledgeable about the area and Portugal as a whole. The tour included a stop at a local cafe where we had the opportunity to try the regional desserts, which are far tastier than the pastel de nata and something we never would have experienced on our own.

    Luis warned us that Sintra would be very busy and full of tourists, but we did not anticipate the amount of traffic that we would have to sit in to get to Pena Palace. Once you arrive at the park there is then another wait if you want to see the insides of the palace, which we were fine with not seeing. If Pena Palace is the main reason you are doing the tour I would recommend discussing with your guide and starting at Pena Palace first.

    In addition to Pena Palace, we also made stops in the town, at a local vineyard (Adega Regional de Colares), and Cabo da Roca - the westernmost point of continental Europe. Overall, we enjoyed the day and the places we saw along the way.

    Worth the trip!
    we really enjoyed visiting sintra and cascais and then we had an authentic lunch with a history lesson on the culture!

    Sintra, Cascais and Regaleira with Joe!
    I couldn't find a tour company that went where I wanted to go so I booked a private tour (I was traveling alone) and they let me customize it to go to Sintra, Cascais and Regaleira. If you travel to this area, do it with Joe! He is knowledgeable and so much fun to spend the day with! We went to a great restaurant by Apple Beach for lunch. Joe picked me up from my hotel which was really nice. I learned a lot and made a new friend! This day trip was a highlight of my whole time in Portugal.
