What travellers are saying
- PhyllisFPBaltimore, MD277 contributionsIf you're visiting in February of 2025, you should know that there's been a break in the tracks and the tram isn't going all the way to the cemetery. We learned this the hard way because we happened to be near the cemetery and thought we'd take it back, but they are only running a shuttle bus out there.
We did grab it one evening after dinner from Graca and it was fun, but it was dark so we didn't see as much.Written 16 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However we didn’t plan on doing anything at the other end so just stayed on for the round trip.
It’s nice enough to do once, though I wouldn’t feel the need to ride it again.Written 2 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Also lots of shops and places to a drink and music !Written 20 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Legroom_NeededLewes, UK187 contributionsTimed our travel just right as no queue and car had just arrived at the bottom of the hill but the driver will wait until it's full before setting off. Free travel thanks to lift ticket, was a fun way up the hill (we decided to walk back down)Written 22 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 19BriotLondon, UK87 contributionsWe took one look at the queue for tram 28 at Martim Moniz and decided against it, however right by the stop there is the biggest outside escalator we’d ever seen, so, being nosey we went up it to have a look.
When we got to the top we went left through the streets, walked 5 mins to Socorro tram stop (it’s on the corner of the junction by some bins and a shop - there’s no sign, the man in the shop said to stick your hand out) . Tram 12 took us past the cathedral, the Santa Luzia viewpoint, through the streets and down to Praça de Comércio where once again it was Bock-O’clock! I would recommend this if you just want to experience travelling on a tram but don’t want the squishy-squashy tram 28! Have fun xWritten 2 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - rayraysworldWarwick, UK1,956 contributionsThere are plenty of hills in Lisbon, so why not go on a tram or a funicular. so we stumbled across a funicular and joined the line in the scorching Portuguese sunshine. We paid cash to the driver who was possibly the most miserable man in Lisbon.
We then sat and waited and then it started and up the hill we went. It's nothing spectacular but it is definitely a must do and I'm happy we did it.
We used the local subway station the next day and we saw Mr Misery on the escalator presumably after his daily shift. Yes, he looked the same as he had the day before.
Never mind him. There's still fun in funicular.Written 10 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Michel Meyl was our driver. He collected us well within time. His taxi was extremely clean & he was most polite, friendly & professional. The drive was very pleasant & we arrived on time for our flight home to London.Written 25 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very busy place with some food and services. Short trip across the river.Written 26 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - malc1005Kettering, UK5,504 contributionsSave your legs and use the funicular to get up the steep hills. Short ride, but well worth it. Recommended.Written 9 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- salsakarlRingwood, UK383 contributionsIt’s a fast train that did what was expected - on time, and as “seniors” we qualified for significant savings.
Be aware that the trains can become full , so book in advance ( I’m guessing same day is usually ok)
The seats were comfortable, plenty of legroom ( I’m 6’), and what more would I need ? I don’t need food and drink, so I gazed through the window, to take in the changing scenery.
We had to cancel our first journey a couple of hours before departure ( flight delay) and rebooking was limited because the preferred train was full ( such is it’s popularity). We had used Omio , which worked well. Only caveat was that the site indicated that the tickets needed to be printed ( preventing us from rebooking as we sat in the plane). On the train, we discovered that you don’t need printed tickets, but can present them on your phone - as you’d expect !Written 27 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JR KVancouver, WA276 contributionsBooked a one way ticket for 4 to Lisbon
Didn’t want to catch the 7am “ fast train “
So took the midday “milk run”

Krishnan was timely in our pick up/drop off and shared cultural and geographical information along the drive that we enjoyed. We would highly recommend using Daytrip and Krishnan's services again. Well kept vehicles used by Daytrip drivers everytime we have used them. Thank you.Written 29 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
