It's a nostalgia to ride on an old tram. Tram 28 route takes you through some very narrow and hilly streets. It's an interesting experience. Locals, especially the elderlies, use this public transportation. Every departure from Martim Moriz was filled with tourist and no room for the locals to get on or get a seat.

Some of the trams are more functional and modern - e15 to Belem. Others are older and have more character - though nearly everyone wants the 28 I'd recommend the quieter 12 for a circular route or the 24 up past some key lookouts and sites to a square not far from the top of Parque Eduardo VII. Narrow streets add to the interest.
Ridiculously good value if you team it with exploration of the metro network on a 24 hour navegante pass for 7 euros.

It is fun ride up to steep hill. Skip it if the waiting line is long. Perhaps coming down it will be less crowdy. It is cover by metro card, although is more expensive ( ~ 4 euro).
Nice view of Lisbon from the top of the hill.

We had this an extra when we visited Oceanini de Lisboa.
    Enjoyed the screens and views.
If you want a round trip, just stay on the carts and produce your tickets.

Conveniently located about a 7 minute walk from Time Out Market, Elevador Da Bica is a good spot to walk off all the food you ate. If you do plan to go to the market, I'd recommend combining the two in one trip since the elevador is not that close to the city centre. The yellow funicular is the most popular one in Lisbon because of the steep hills. Unfortunately, it wasn't running when we came by on a Saturday at around 2:30. Maybe it only runs on weekdays? Regardless of that fact, it's a cool place for some photo ops. This is where you see all of those Lisbon shots on Instagram. We didn't walk up the entire hill but it was a sight to see. We didn't have time to come back another day to see if the tram was running since our time in Lisbon was limited, but if this is a must-see for you, just be sure to budget enough time on your trip. You never know when it may be randomly closed.

Rui was an incredible guide during our stays in Lisbon and Sintra.

He's super knowledgeable and was excellent with our children.

    I highly recommend 👌

A lovely ride on a retro tram and much quieter than the 28 which departs from the same stop at Martin Moniz. There were dozens of tourists queued up for the 28 and just a handful of us got on when the 12 appeared.
You go through narrow streets and the circular route makes it practical. Note you have to get off on arrival at the square and reboard it 25 yards away, so a separate ticket but transport is si cheap in Lisbon, 24 hr Navegante card.
4 star rather than 5 mainly because I preferred tram 24 for the views and connections.

Save your legs and use the funicular to get up the steep hills. Short ride, but well worth it. Recommended.

Called the day of and spoke with Fatima, she was so lovely on the phone and set up my family of 4 last minute for a Tuktuk tour of Lisbon. Sam was our guide and picked us up 30 min later and took us on such a fun tour of the city. He showed us all the major sites and views of the city and was so knowledgeable! We are American and he being British and Portuguese spoke perfect English but knew so much about his city and culture which was a perfect fit for us! They really customized our day for us and on such last minute notice! Wow! Thank you so much! Bonus: Sam took us to the most delicious pastry shop that wasn’t your typical tourist trap and had the best Pastel de Nata! He also recommended so many spots in other villages we will be visiting on our holiday. Thank you so much to Fatima and Sam!

My friends and I arrived on an overnight flight into Lisbon and Hugo was waiting for us. He is such a delightful and professional person who took us around the city, dropping us off so we could take our photos then picking us again and again. He had so much knowledge to share with us throughout the day and evening. His car is immaculate, he provided water and from the moment we met he felt like an old friend. He is easy to reach via WhatsApp at +351-967-633-573. Don’t hesitate to book your driving tour with Hugo!

We were in Lisbon for the day and Margarida took us on an excursion to Fatima. She picked us up at the cruise terminal and drove us to Fatima giving us some education about Lisbon and Portugal along the way. She brought us to the Sanctuary, told us a little about it and patiently waited for us until we were ready to leave. She then took us to the original home of 2 of the 3 children which is probably something we would not have known about otherwise. Upon returning to our ship, she also gave us an overview of some of the Lisbon city highlights. She is a great driver and we would use her again when we return to Lisbon.

If you want to take a ferry across the river, this is a logical ferry location with very frequent service. it hooks up to the Metro, so there are lots of people making the change. Very busy place with some food and services. Short trip across the river.

We did a 4-day trip to Portugal with my brother and sister-in-law. We stayed in Cascais, but we decided to do a quick half-a-day also in Lisbon. We had a wonderful 2-hour tour with ElectricTuk guide, Catarina Marcāo. She was very personable and in a short time told us a lot of history. The views were amazing from the locations she showed us. We feel very lucky to have had Catarina; she treated us as friends and had a good sense of humor! She also took many photos of us, and her energetic attitude was super fun! As we drove around she introduced us to the traditional Portuguese Fado music, too. She made us feel very welcomed as visitors in Portugal.
