Awesome tour of the Van Gogh Museum with our guide, Genevieve, from Loving Vincent Tours!
Genevieve was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable. Her expertise made this tour one of the best we’ve ever encountered from any tour agency!

The star of the show is currently in the process of a 'make over'. Rembrandt's the Nightwatch is currently being restored. It is behind a glass partition and can still be viewed to some degree (not ideal) but better than nothing.

The museum is no 'one trick pony', however. It is the some of its parts and there is a wealth of treasure on display that is still very good indeed.

As a firm favourite, there are many works of art from portrait to landscape and everything else in between. A fine ceramic display, Oriental section and lots of furniture, fashion and old weapons.

A good museum should have an eclectic mix of wares. Rijks fits into this category exceptionally well. A good curation sympathetically displayed over several floors.

Well worth a visit when in 'The Dam'.

This area is definitely the beating heart of Amsterdam at night. There's so many people it might be hard to navigate around. We walked though this district maybe 2 or 3 times and during day and before dusk, it's just a normal touristy place with cute canals to take photos of. Reminder not to take any photos at night, it is beyond disrespectful.

Lovely area to stroll around - lots of character little streets with boutiques, bars+ cafes. Plenty of photo opportunities along the canals with traditional architecture - but popular and busy on a Saturday.

Vindelpark has a great soundscape - concerts (too busy dancing to take photos), street musicians and birdsong. Great place to hang out with friends and family. I was with my brother and we had a great time. Enjoy a picnic or just stroll and soak up the atmosphere. Or sit and watch the world go by. It’s not a big park but it’s certainly one of the busiest and friendly parks I’ve been to as my brother and I had about four conversations with strangers!

The best part is the tasting at the end, where you get to sample freshly brewed Heineken, straight from the source. Staff are very knowledgable.

Offers a fascinating glimpse into Dutch religious history. Beautifully preserved and maintained hidden church. A must-see attraction in Amsterdam. The location, however, is a bit sleazy; it is in Amsterdam's infamous red light district!

Fantastic, classical building. Well organized and easy to get around. Connects with the tram system right outside. In the heart of the city, it's a great location to start your walk around the sights of Amsterdam.

Wow, one of the best museums we’ve ever been to!
This was not only a super fascinating and well planned exhibition, it also had the most friendly staff we’ve ever met. They made the start of our visit a super positive one.
The body works themselves are amazing and both of us genuinely read every single piece of information (and we don’t like reading ;) ). They use the bodies to educate on mental and physical health concepts that should honestly be taught in every school to everyone. Being able to see the results of lifestyle factors, or other illnesses, promotes reflection within your own life and fosters positive motivation for change :)) would highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

The tour itself isn't anything to admire but if you do the swing, virtual roller coaster and drink package it's worth it. The day we were there unfortunately the sun couldn't push through the mist so the view was terrible but we still really enjoyed it. If in Amsterdam it has to be done.

    Very well-organized, clean, and engaging.
The staff was very polite, also.
Do not lose the opportunity to imagine Rembrandt's life in his working and living space. Highly recommended!
(Just a suggestion to the Museum: providing the possibility to choose the playback speed on the guided tour would be the golden touch.)

To fully understand the impact on the Netherlands people during World War Two, it is essential that you and your family take a few hours out of your trip to visit this excellent museum.

The collection of artefacts and stories are arranged perfectly to guide you through from the beginning right through the turbulent and horrific years of the war and liberation.

There is a good mix of static, interactive, and immersive displays that you can listen to in your prefered language with a headset.

It is humbling to think that so many civilians were able to find the strength and incredible courage to help anyway they could during the war.

The array of ways the Dutch resisted the German occupation was varied, but all activities put them at a serious risk of capture or death. Young women smuggling resistance newspapers under aacks of potatoes on their bikes past German troops, families hiding people in their cellars, people making fake ids, etc. You are left wondering, "Would I have the courage to do the same if I were in the same situation?"

After arriving from the airport into Central R.R. Station, we exited and rounded the corner of the building in search of a tram to our hotel and encountered this huge open square bounded on one side by the station and inner harbor wharfs, on another by De Bijenkorf Department Store (easily recognizable by its beehive shaped dome on top), on others by hotels, cafes, sandwich shops, and private buildings.

The square was bustling with traffic including trams, buses, cars, people on bicycles, and walkers. There was activity everywhere which elicited excitement on our part. This is the place to be to pick up a bite to eat from street vendors including the “famous” French fries with mayonnaise sauce, listen to buskers imparting both instrumental and vocal music, and just watching people who are in somber black and grey (popular with Europeans), the favorite bright orange (color de jour for Netherlanders), or other day glow colors.

Dam square is the center of everything in Amsterdam and all public transport either starts, terminates, or runs through the square. It’s the place to start your excursion through Amsterdam whether it be on land or water.
